This company claims the report is free, but then they charge you $24.95! These people will rip you off, so I encourage everyone to stay far away from this company! You have seen many other complaints against this company on this website, so all of us who have filed a complaint cannot be wrong!

This company does not make the website very clear, so you don't know that when you click on another button that you will be charged the $24.95. I actually don't remember seeing anything that told me I will be charged this money!

I am warning you that this company will rip you off! It's your choice whether you want to listen! I hope we can band together and put this company out of business!

BEWARE OF ANYTHING THAT CLAIMS TO BE FREE!!! I HAVE JUST LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON! DOES ANYONE ELSE WANT TO JOIN THE SUCKERS CLUB THAT I JOINED? IF YOU DO, JUST GO TO THIS WEBSITE AND GET A "FREE" REPORT!!! THEN YOU WILL BE A MEMBER OF "THE CLUB."

The bank probably only gave your money back because it would cost more to investigate it (staff hours) than it would be to absorb the charge and refund you. I bet any money if you disputed it a 2nd time, it wouldn't be refunded.

Read the fine print...as boring as it may be...

Tim, if a website asks for any financial information, and you give it to them at any time, you are authorizing them to charge you!! The reason that I know this is because I work in the debit dispute department for a very large bank, and especially if it's a Visa card, Visa also sees it this way. If something is "free" then they shouldn't be asking for any financial information. People really do get suckered in by the words "free" and "trial". They assume that if they don't want the trial, to do nothing, which is not how it works. You need to cancel the trial by the end of the time period in order to not be charged and if you don't-you're in, no questions asked. These businesses are out to make money, and lets face it-what's really actually free these days??

All you have to do is pay attention and learn how to read!

The terms and conditions are FULLY disclosed on the homepage of freecreditreport.com

Here it is, directly from the website:

>>>

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period*, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership.

ConsumerInfo.com and Freecreditreport.com are not affiliated with the annual free credit report program. Under a new Federal law, you have the right to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies. To request your free annual report under that law, you must go to www.annualcreditreport.com.

Remember, all free credit reports are not created equal. Get your Free Credit Report and Credit Score from the leading provider of consumer credit monitoring products.

It looks pretty straightforward to me, but I guess if you cannot read on a third grade level you might have a problem with it.

Free Credit Report is most definitely a scam!

I filed a report with my bank, and the money was refunded. That was the only way I could have gotten the money back, because the company did not willingly give it back. The company never responded to me when I emailed them to ask for a refund! They have terrible customer service, and they don't care! Free Credit Report will eventually go out of business, and I will be happy to see it happen! There are a lot of reports filed against Free Credit Report with the FTC.

We understand fine.

Once the FTC sees the very first page of the site with the info I copied and pasted, they will laugh at you just like we are now. The actual free website - that even freecreditreport.com tells you about on the first page - doesn't ask for any financial info......why do you think that is?

Lets understand that SCORES are NOT free! That is the confusion here.

The OP failed to read and pay attention.

The website clearly explains the charges. That is why they ask for your credit card!

NO FREE CREDIT REPORT includes scores. They are always extra, whether it be upfront, or joining some other service they are never "free".

You obviously ordered scores, and that is why you were charged.

All you need to do is pay attention.

I gave my card info, but I didn't authorize them to charge anything! There's a difference there, but some of you people don't seem to understand! I will work towards putting this company out of business. They are running a major scam!

you had to give them your financial information to be charged. Why would you have to do the if it was indeed free like on annualcreditreport.com.

As well as this taking up the whole left hand side of the front page:

' IMPORTANT INFORMATION

They even tell you where to get the absolute free one. How much more less of a scam could this be?

Why did you give out your credit card number online if you thought it was completely free? You're retarded, get over it.

Yes, it is a scam!!!

The company charged me a one-time charge of $24.95. I wasn't aware of this charge. I thought the credit report was supposed to be free, as advertised! The website advertised that I could see the credit report from all 3 companies. I clicked on the button to do that, but I didn't see the $24.95 charge listed anywhere. It's an absolute fraud and a scam!

My response

My friend, it looks like you are the one who doesn't know how to read! I'm not talking about the monthly charge of $14.95. I already canceled that charge yesterday.

I'm talking about the one-time charge of $24.95 when I click on the button that lets me see the reports from all 3 companies. I don't remember seeing anywhere on the site that there would be a $24.95 charge to do this! If it's there, then it certainly isn't very noticeable!

The main reason I used freecreditreport.com was to get a "FREE" credit report that the company advertises on tv, with the idiot playing his guitar on that silly commercial! If I had wanted to pay money, I would have gotten my report from another source! Does that make sense to you, Mr. employee of freecreditreport.com?

The company has the $24.95 charge hidden where I couldn't see it! That's all a part of the major scam!

By the way, the law allows consumers to get a free credit report once every 12 months, without charge! This was my only request in 12 months, so I guess I'm entitled to my money back, and that is another reason this website is a scam!

I'm filing a complaint with the FTC tomorrow, and I will do my best to put this company out of business! I hate to see big companies take advantage of consumers, and I will do something about it!!! Is anybody with me on this?

No ripoff

Did you read the disclosure when they asked you for your debit/credit card number? It clearly states something to this effect:

**When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period**, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership.

or

**Monitoring with Experian begins within 48 hours of enrollment in your free trial. Monitoring with Equifax and TransUnion takes approximately 4 days to begin, though in some cases cannot be initiated during your trial period. You may cancel your trial membership any time within 9 days of enrollment without charge.

so no ripoff here, you just didn't read. What did you think they were asking you for card information for? To read your fortune?
