FreeCreditReport stole, lies, fraudulent, took my money, made me overdraw my bank account ripoff Internet

About a month ago I saw an ad for freecreditreport.com on my Yahoo! homepage so I clicked on it and signed up. It was "free" after all.

I've been trying to get credit so I can start building it up to get college loans and things like that, so I've been applying for credit cards. After every card I applied for I would get an email from FreeCreditReport.com saying my report was updated or that I had an alert that I hadn't read so I would go check it out.

Every credit card I had applied for was on there so I figured it wasn't a scam. That was until I had this mysterious 12.00 charge on my account. Shortly after that I overdrew my account, thinking I had more money than I did.

The charge was, of course, from "free" creditreport.com.

Membership cancellation, otherwise $12.95 per month

I am not defending freecreditreport.com.

I would like to point out that on the first page of their website, they explicitly state that if you do not cancel your membership within the 30-day trial period, you will be billed $12.95 per month. This optional "opt-out" policy is normal for many internet businesses which offer a "free" service.

I suggest readers of ripoffreport read the "fine print" before signing up for any "free" services.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 30-day trial period, you will be billed $12.95 for each month that you continue your membership.

ConsumerInfo.com and Freecreditreport.com are not affiliated with the annual free credit report program. Under a new Federal law, you have the right to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies. To request your free annual report under that law, you must go to www.annualcreditreport.com.

your credit report, to keep tabs on what's going on in your financial life, the correct addy for this is www.annualcreditreport.com . This site allows you to receive 1 credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus. You can get these reports one at a time (such as every 4 months so that you are keeping tabs 3 times per year), or all at once, the choice is yours.

With the new law changes allowing us to receive these reports free of charge once each year, there are companies out there that will (and do) take advantage of the situation. When going to any website offering 'free' credit reports, you need to read the fine print carefully to assure that you receive what you think that you're getting. The annual credit report is the only website that I've found that actually gives you just that.

Good Luck.
