Complaint Review: Freedom Grants Information Services

I got a phone call from a guy named Gavin Ftar at around 7:00 pm saying I had been approved for a government grant up to $50,000, and all I had to do was pay a one time fee of $239.99. He had a very strong accent and asked for my account information and asked if I pay my taxes on time every year. At first I asked him to send me information, which he wouldn't, then I asked him to call me back, which he wouldn't either.

After stupidly giving him my account information, I was transferred to a lady in the "verification department" who was also hard to understand. They were both very persistant. I asked how I could possibly know it was legit if they wouldn't give me info, and they kept telling me I would get a verification number and that was my proof, but explained it like salesman would have.
They will not try to charge my account until Dec. 18, so after seeing all of these other entries, I called and put a hold on my account, and will go in and close it tomorrow.

I strongly suggest anyone else who has talked to these people or anyone like them to do the same. Another phone number I was given is 800-409-4224 which when you call just says mailbox is full. The first one said they were closed and to call back during business hours. My parents got the same phone call, so be careful!
