Freelance Work Exchange ripoff, theft Brooklyn New York
On July 16, 2006 I bought a 7-day trial membership from Freelance Work Exchange. Three days later, I emailed them to cancel my membership. I heard nothing back from them so I assumed it was taken care of.
On July 23, 2006 I was charged $34.12(CND) for a monthly membership on my credit card. I immediately emailed them again. Again I heard nothing.
On August 22, 2006 they charged me again. I immediately emailed and tried to phone them, again with no response.
Finally on September 1, 2006 I managed to get ahold of someone at CCBill (FWE's billing company) and THEY cancelled my membership. However, I was told that they cannot refund me because they are a different company. I still haven't gotten a response from Freelance Work Exchange.
In fact, every one of my emails got a "ticket number" and an "access key" to be able to track how things were going. The first set of numbers comes up "invalid" when I try to look them up, and the other two sets are still "pending".
They have fraudulently charged me not once, but twice, for the grand total of $68.24(CND) and have cost me valuable time trying to get this situation resolved.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with these theives?
