Dear Sirs,
In regards to this report, I find myself very angry and frustrated even having to conduct this report on such a facilitated ability to do so. But I am pleased that there is recourse and a given facility to do so as well as in a civil matter. In brief detail in explanation, but in hopes in great understanding of explanation, I will perceive on with such.
To make this brief and descriptive, I will start with purchasing a transmission from the build center of Freeway Transmission on 1700 South and approximately 800 West Salt Lake City, Utah. I have done work for this business in the installations of several swamp coolers in their shop area, so I was aware of being able to purchase a transmission from this location from Barry, Gayle (to my understanding, no longer affiliated), and Mark (as per such a co-owner). The first transmission purchase consisted of a rebuilt transmission and torque converter. I had this installed by a very reputable company and certified mechanic and transmission shop named Gray's Auto with ASE certified technicians. The installation of the first transmission went very well.
Two months into the use of the transmission, it developed a shrilling noise in forward motion in the torque converter. A couple of months after that the transmission completely went out and left me stranded. When parking the vehicle that evening after the transmission failure, I noticed a felt that the transmission was extremely HOT, actually so hot from metal to metal rubbing, the friction from this about started the transmission on fire. I actually took a thermometer and measured the heat... it was 380 degrees. When the transmission was removed by Gray's Automotive and warranted through the build center of Freeway Transmission, Barry explained to me that it was a bearing that had gone out in the torque converter; weather there is actually a bearing in the torque converter or not was beyond my knowledge at that time. But Barry was more than helpful and willing to what I would have hoped to have replaced the transmission, but he wanted to try to rebuild it.
I explained to him the enormous amount of heat and how HOT the transmission was and had gotten. He felt that it could be rebuilt under the warranty and not replaced. I think that when cast aluminum gets above 300 degrees or greater, it under goes extreme metal fatigue and can cause permanent damages to the transmission or the casing of it from the metal fatigue.
To make a long story short, the transmission was installed at my expense of approximately $400.00 on the labor for the second time. A month into the second time of the same transmission being rebuilt, even after the extreme heat and metal fatigue that Barry said would not be a problem, the transmission has started to fail again in the reverse mode making the same exact shrilling noise that was coming from the torque converter. I had Gray's Automotive look into it and verify this, contacted Freeway Transmission, they said they needed to verify it as well.
Again trying to make a long story short in explanation at this time, I dropped the truck off at the West Jordan shop, they inspected it the next morning, and said that they had found my problem and it was coming from broken engine mounts and transmission mounts, and that the motor was about ready to jump out of the hood. Now, understanding that this is impossible, because the motor mounts have only about .50 inches of travel with safety clevises, this is impossible for the motor to jump out of the hood, and they said that the fan on the motor was rubbing terribly and that was where the noise was coming from. Swearing to this in writing on an invoice and wanting me to agree to it as well and sign to the understanding of this to have these things replaced before they could honor the transmissions warranty in any way even the leak in the vacuum modulator, this had completely nothing to do with the transmission. I believe they were only trying to compensate in some way their time for the warranty by trying to add additional repairs that were unnecessary in the repair of the warranty.
At this particular time, once again trying to make this as short as possible, but a lot juicier information, they held my truck hostage and would not let me retrieve my truck in any way shape or form, until I signed a document agreeing to their findings of complete and utter lies. These motor mounts were not broken; they might have been some what worn, but not broken and jumping out of the hood. Matter of fact, I even replaced one just to appease the situation, but low and behold I had to call the West Jordan Police Department to encourage them that they had to relinquish my truck. They hadn't done any work, the work they wanted to do was a complete and utter lie to gain the financial justification of warranting the transmission when the transmission was already under warranty. Their view I am sure is a lot different, but I can tell you to this day my transmission still makes noises, basically broken, and leaks transmission fluid all at the wonderful understanding of this. Now there once was a comment that Barry said he would personally take care of this after I replaced the motor mount, even though the motor mount wasn't broken, I replaced it anyways, once again at my expense of $116.88 plus gas and fuel expenses from 160 miles away round trip and towing expenses, I find this is getting more ridiculous since the transmission didn't fix itself or the replacement of the motor mount didn't fix the transmission, and the cost of the song and dance is becoming ridiculous. This is my song and I'd like to dance...more to come per legal request.
P.S. I'm not quite sure what Barry's meaning of personally taking care of this means in his understanding since I have already been through the shysters techniques of elimination of warrantees and customers. I hope to resolve this matter in a way that I feel comfortable after going through so much grief. I would like to be reimbursed for my expenses, my frustrations, and be able to have a new transmission put in my truck with a good torque converter, and not a transmission or torque converter that fails in six months, and be able to do this with a company that I feel is more trustworthy and honest and compelled to the customer. I feel that this expense could run in the excess of $2900.00 and some change in Freeway Transmission's personnel and employees and/or owners and co-owners. Thank you, Kyle

Rebuttal on Freeway Transmission
#2General Comment
Fri, January 06, 2012
In Reguards to The Complaint filed about Freeway Transmission, I wish to place some input on the company mentioned. I have been in business since 1960 and have been buying transmission from Freeway Transmission and am now continuing to purchase transmission at this time. There are many reasons that a transmission can have problems, however Freeway Transmissions have done everything possible to insure that their transmissions work properly. When You purchase a transmission they include a flush kit to remove all the bad transmission fluid from the system, they include in many instulations an external transmission oil cooler, they include instructions on how to install the transmission properly and are open to assist you in any way possible when you have a problem. Now getting back to the person who filed this complaint there are to many unknowns as to why he had problems, was it the transmission, was it installed poperly, was the external cooler installed, was the correct fluid used, was the shift pattern checked just to name a few. What type of a vehicle was the transmission install to. Was it a factory type suspension or was is an after market conversion with big tires and lft kit, there are just to many unknowns to take his complaint to seriously. I can say he may have had a problem but it is unknown as what the real cause for his problem really was. I would not be to concerned with his problem, Freeway builds thousands of transmissions every year and I have never had problem that was not solvable. I can not say that problems do not exist or happen, but I can say, We have never had problem that we did not resolve and that I will continue buying transmissions from Freeway Transmissions. I have bought transmissions from many other suppliers and have had more problems with the operation of their transmissions then I have had from the transmission we purchased from Freeway Transmission. Thank You
