This company beefs up and promises that you will meet someone, but I was a member of this site on and off for YEARS, and sent HUNDREDS of email(s) ... And only actually met 3 (yes, THREE) "real" people on that site!

Many responses to profiles are NEVER returned, yet you are forced a "cupid" report, sending you possible matches, which and responses to are either ignored or turned down.

This is because many, many profiles appear to be local women or men, but are either models / borrowed profiles without a "real person" behind them backing them up. This is why you can, for an experiment, email 100 people in ONE DAY based on their profiles ... Only to check your "inbox" a week later to find little or even NO responses to any of those 100 emails in it! And I know this - Because I tried it!

If you leave their site for some reason, and re-register later one, you get an error saying your "email is already in their system", even though you changed your user ID and all that. I spoke with someone about this, they told me it stays on their system for three months. A year later, still could not use the email!

Also, this site is EXTREMELY expensive. A three month Gold membership, what I had, can cost upwards to $60-70 dollars. A monthly plan can be as much as $29 a month, or more. And still, "standard" members cannot contact you, even though you have a "gold" membership ... You need to pay another $20 a month simply to have "standard" members contact you!

I set up my account with them with all "automatic renewal" switches turned to "off". At the end of the month, I got an auto-renewal charge on my credit-card. I contacted the site and they told me they could NOT refund the renewal amount because the "switch" for it was on ... I made sure they were set to "off", so who the heck turned them on??

The AdultFriendFinder site is actually a sub-site of "FriendFinder" network. It also appears as "Friendfinder Inc". There are many subsites, such as Alt.com, Passion.com, Bigchurch.com, even AsianFriendFinder.com and FilipinoFriendFinder.com to name a few. I also tried these other sites as one can easily be lured to sign up using "points" redeemed when they set up their original "profile", as with the AdultFriendFinder.com page in my case. I had the SAME results with the affiliated sub sites ... Many emails and no "results". Met a Filipino (yes, only ONE) on the FilipinoFriendFinder sub-site, but unfortunately, there was a 12,000 mile distance between us. No prospects from Filipinos in the USA (locally) were answered.

Now for the final problem ... I have a SPAM filter on my email account I used to attach as me contact for the AdultFriendFinder site. Since I signed up, I noticed many, many "Bulk email / SPAM" messages being picked up. So many, as a fact, it would actually crash me email! Ignoring the SPAM email(s) and not using the "Bulk" option (deleting them and not saving them into their own location) fixed the problem. Why such an drastic increase in SPAM after signing up to this site?

I am convinced that this site is PREYING on lonely men and people (with credit cards ofcourse). I know because I am one of them. I signed up back in 2003-2004 with little luck and then again in 2005 with worse luck - Just giving this site a second chance. After me membership expires in a month from when I am writing this report (and they better not AUTO renew it) ... I am out - For good!

Consumer beware...be internet savvy

#2Consumer Suggestion

You do need to be internet savvy to use internet dating. I have met dozens of people from online. I have also been a computer tech for 12 years.
Using a webcam to verify if a member is who they say they are, asking questions and doing a lot of chatting and phone calls, gut instinct and meeting in a public place are always required.
I actually met my current husband of 2 years on AFF. Suprise suprise!

Just when I was ready to give up he emailed me for a "real date" and I accepted. Best guy I have ever met so I married him. But it is hit and miss I will admit and I have heard from a lot of guys that women on there are fake, fishing for compliments or just there to waste time.

Best thing to do is be honest about yourself so there are no suprises when someone does come along that interests you.
Nothing pissed me off more than a guy who lied about his height, weight, had an old picture or anything else. There is nothing wrong with posting correct information. That is where the honesty begins. I didn't lie about who I was and neither did my husband but a lot do.
Good luck and watch that auto renew! I always checked it when it got close and made sure I turned it off!
