A gorgeous young girl who picks out my profile on the site Tagged without me having any picture nor any information about me than my name and age on it? Isn't that strange I thought? It is the wet dream of every young man to be contacted and invited by such I thought. That's why I immediately thought it could be a fraud.

On Tuesday the 14th August I've received an e-mail from a girl named Amanda Scott. She mailed me from the United States I live in Belgium and told me she will be visiting my area the coming weekend and she would like me to lead her in my city. At first I was very excited, but then my intuition screamed that such thing is incredible and could be a fraud. In the mail this Amanda Scott urged me to come visit her on the site of Friendorma where she can be found. To my surprise I saw that I have to become member, and thereby to pay, if I wanted to chat with her. Then of course I knew it was a scam. To report this fraud is not going to stop them cheating people, but I know it can help. Certainly if other people who experienced the same report that also. Then it can become a mighty weapon if ever someone decides to sue them.

Hello,

I do not believe that the website Friendorama.com is a scam. I don't have proof to back up my statement, however no one else seems to either. I became a member of Friendorama last year and have had some success. I paid for a membership, spoke to some friendly females, and dated one of them for a couple of weeks. I'm single right now, but that's simply because the relationship didn't work out.

I would like to point out that they do have a Basic membership where you can browse profiles for free. You don't have to pay them anything if you don't want to. I mean if you take the online dating scene pretty seriously, then definitely do what you have to to speak with other members, but don't fall for the fake profiles that are listed on each and every single dating site out there.

It's pretty simple. If you don't have a picture posted on your profile, or if you say you're a 50 yd old divorced man, don't expect the e-mail from the sexy 20yr old girl to be real. Just ignore it and look for something a little more realistic, like I did. You are obviously on the dating site to find a date. If it was so hard to find a date/relationship in real life, why do you expect it to be as easy as 1-2-3 online?

So why do you link them to adultfriendfinder?

Adultfriendfinder is owned by Various Inc and their domain registration gives complete contact information - unlike this friendorama site.

Why do you associate this friendorama to Various Inc.?

All of the websites operated by Various Inc clearly state that near the bottom of the website home page.

I'm using this friendorama normally and i was able to read mails and flirts.

One fine day i got a new mail. I wanted to read that.. What the hell??

I was redirected to a upgrade membership page.

There was not even an option to do it later.

I don't know where this attrocity will end.

These social networks are supposed to be free with some basic plans.

If they can't give all for free, atleast reading n sending mails and tagging a person can be made free.

They can keep this online chat for premium users.

Hope somebody from that site reads this and does the needful.

I do not have any real evidence to prove that Friendorama is a company of AdultFriendFinder nor that they are a scam.

Can I conclude that the company Friendorama is a scam? No, I do not have any real evidence to prove so.

Dear Sofian,

Thank you for contacting Online Personals Help!

This is something that is hard to prove. Members from our site also get emails from other people trying to lure them away. I am not saying we do not have any fake profiles, I know that there are. I am saying that we do not create them or use them in any way. As a matter of fact I personally delete at least 10 profiles per day that are suspicious.

But with thousands of profiles that are created daily, it is hard to keep up. So we mainly rely on our members to inform us of fake profiles.

I would like to offer you a one month free Premium Membership as proof of our integrity.
Please email me back if you are willing to trust us when I say we do not create or tolerate these profiles.

If you decide not to take us up on our offer :

In order to cancel your account please:

1 - Login to your account
2 - Go to My Settings on the top menu bar
3 - Select Cancel my Account

Don't forget to enter your reason for cancelling!

We are sad to see you leave our community, yet we thank you for being a member and wish you all the best!

If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.
I hope this information was helpful!

Have a great day! :)

My respons to this mail:

When I received your second mail, I found it strange that you offer me free membership and say that its a prove of your integrity. Integrity cant be bought off. But I still wanted to give you and your company the benefit of the doubt, till I went on the site: Internet and read the following report:

Yes me too... I was a bit fool first to swallow it but now I know it's all just unreal.

I also got flirt from one woman then "she" replied and next time I noticed "her" sending me flirt message again... It's quite embarrassing I almost feel sorry for those whom keep it up for doing such bad mistakes. Almost...

No I did not paid one cent but after my accusations to their e-mail services they offered me free membership up to next year. Just to prove their innocense...

After that as I just went along to see what happens next. I started to get flood of mails from different kind of females... They really try hard to scam you

Z.

It looks like its a common use for your company to offer membership to people who accuse you. It feels like a you offered me a bribe, but I am sure you are going to deny this in a next mail arent you? At this point I lost complete trust in what you say and in the way your company operates. All the evidences I have up till now are going to appear on the sites where I can report that. Its another bash into your companys reputation.

The answer of Friendorama halpdesk after accusing them of fraud

#10Author of original report

Mon, August 20, 2007

This is the answer of the Friendorama helpdesk by one named Gianni:

Dear E. M. S.,

Thank you for contacting OnlinePersonalsHelp!

This member's profile will go under review and we will monitor his/her account for signs of scamming. Should it prove to be used for scamming, we will terminate the account.

Like all the other dating and social networking sites, we must deal with a large number of scammers/spammers who try to prey on members of the website. Their objective is to either get money from our members, or to lure them into becoming a member on not only our site, but also other websites (usually sex sites).

To combat this problem we have several advanced Spam filters in place that analyze user behavior and alerts our support staff to suspicious activity. Although our system detects most of these scammers, many of them are fairly advanced and may slip through the system. Therefore we rely on members such as you to inform us of these scammers.

From our benchmark analysis it seems that we are doing a better job at scammer / spammer detection and prevention than most other dating sites. The average member receives between 31% to 455% less questionable communications on our site than on our competitors sites. On top of that as opposed to trying to hide the problem like most other websites, we make an effort to pro-actively warn all our members about this problem by a clearly visible "Fraud Alert" link in the email in box page.

We work very hard at ensuring the quality of our product and at protecting your privacy and we will always respond quickly to any violation of our values.

We welcome you to report any abuse of our product and to provide us with any scammers that you encounter in the future since these fraudulent members are continuously being investigated. If you feel offended/abused by a certain member, please inform us so that we may remove their account.

If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.
I hope this information was helpful!

Have a great day! :)

Sincerely,

Gianni

My reply to them:

Hello,

Thank you for your explanation. I give you and your company the benefit of the doubt about the scamming. I will also post your answer on the sites where I reported your company as being a fraud. But still its strange that scammers lure others to become member of your site. The scam is pretty well thought, so I think younger and inexperienced users will fall in that scam. Why would you fight such thing? Itll certainly help you in your goal of making more financial profit. Of course in the long run itll destroy your reputation. Are you and your company really that integer that you fight this with all your will? I dont know the answers to these questions.

Anyways, what goes around comes around. I hope you will prove to the many that feel deceived that you dont take part at this scam.

I wish you lots of courage and integrity to resolve your company problems.

My sincere salutations.

(((link redacted)))

The link I gave in my earlier update doesn't seem to work. Search on google the name: Friendorama. Then on the next page youll see the headline:
Friendorama and children abuse?McCann=McKenna at myspace.com ...
This will get you to a site where you can see the type of e-mail Friendorama sends to cheat people into becomming member. The membership costs minimum 25dollar.
