ive worked at fry' food and drug, which is a part of the kroger company, for over a year. i work mainly at night while the store is closed. for safety they have step stools that all employees who have to reach above there head are supposed to use when reaching for product or putting product on the shelves. the stools in this particular store are faulty and need to be replaced. several employees have fallen off of them but have not reported there falls in fear of losing there jobs. the employees have been told that the stools would be replaced for over a year now.

well with the year of promisses of replacing broken equipment we are now being told that it is the end of the fiscal year and that kroger isnt spending any more money to replace or fix anything and that we need to charish anything that we do have. which in short tells us that the salary managment and the vps of the company want there raises and bonuses.

several of the employees have gone to the dm and other management to complain about the problem and most of the time are told that if they dont like it then there is the door. which in my opinion is not a way to talk to employees who make it possible for the customer to shop there and in return is profit in krogers pocket.

so in short the kroger company doesnt care about there employees or there safety just as long as they get what they want. its unsafe to work at or even shop at there stores.

and while im thinking about all this the other day we were haveing construction in the store to make the meat department bigger. not for the customers but for the employees who work back there. the construction company cut one of the cooler lines that keep the meat out on the sales floor cold and at health department regulations. they didnt realize they cut the line for quite a while, atleast 3 to 4 hours. anyways the meat in the coolers had rose to over 70 degrees which is to hot to resell to customers.

the meat was taken from the shelves after the store had closed and put in a truck with a cooler, an extra storage area,. the next morning it was then pulled out of the truck and put back on the shelf to be sold. so obviously kroger doesnt care about there customers either.

hope someone reads this and passes it on.

I also work for this particular store in Sierra Vista, and whoever filed this complaint is ABSOLUTELY correct. This store does not care about any of us. Steve, the store director, says he will take care of things, and does not, and none of us feel comfortable talking to any manager about any other employee, because they are all buddy buddy here.
Hey, guy, whoever you are that wrote this report, I'm the chick who works nights that always bitches about this awful job. :) We should bond over this! Haha.
Anyway, it's completely true, and the safety coordinator has agreed, this store does not care about employees, just about making a quick buck. I'm quitting soon and can not WAIT.

Typical Kroger Behavior

I am very familiar with this store in Sierra Vista, it's one of the busiest in the Kroger system for this area. This is typical Kroger behavior. They don't like to spend money, period. And when they do, it's only what they have to spend to give the "illusion" that they're on top of things. I'm also too familiar with the improper temperature of their goods, and they're also transported in the same manner. Their dairy cooler door is always open and it's usually anywhere from 50-60 degrees on a regular basis. People just don't know how to close doors. I am in Fry's stores all over the area, this is just typical. Get with your union on unsafe conditions. All the other stuff will not be handled, they've been doing things this way for years, they're not going to change.

Hi there newly hired employee! I just wanted to note that you may be at night but you should have access to the C.C. Paperwork Please Fill it out and give it to your Cultral Council this info goes straight to your President Jon Flora don't believe me? Well I'm the cultural council Zone rep I go to another store and meet with other stores to talk about problems we have had that same problem and we got new stools now I understand the "higher ups" want money but with us part of the company it won't happen. I buy the stuff myself if the store doesn't want to buy it and when you buy certain stuff for the company they have to give you the money back. Eccpecially if it's osha approved! I've been with this company for 3 years so I know how you feel but it's not a ripoff report try again!

I think you are either lying or very very ignorant.....

First off, i used to work for Fry's, and last time i checked, after ninety days of working for ANY Kroger affiliated company, you have the option to sign up for the union. If nothing is getting taken care of, and if they are not meeting your specific work saftery requirments, then call the union. If you are not part of the union or do not want to go that route, then stop complaining, because its nobodies fault but your own. FYI, they cannot fire you for calling the union on them, it doesnt work that way and trust me, your managers know it.

As for the spoiled meat being resold, i think you are lying. I worked for Kroger for quite some time, and they are obsessive about the type of meat and the quality that it is. If this is truly the case, then you need to anonymously call Fry's corp immediatly so nobody gets sick or dies, because if something happens to customers and you just stood b and did nothing but post a senseless report online, trust me when i say that you will also be in just as much trouble. In fact, i believe i might call your store owner myself.........

If what you are saying is true then you need to contact your local officials

For any safety issues that would be ADOSH - Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health

For food safety issues contact the local Health Department.
