I recently purchased a Seagate 80gig hard drive and the drive came in a clear plastic box. After installing and formatting, the drive formatted out to a 30gig and called to find out what the problem was. After waiting 10 minutes on hold the man who spoke with me said that there was nothing he could do as the drive was functioning and since there was no defect since windows sometimes will not format the higher drives properly so that was that.

I then called Seagate and they emailed me the software which allows windows to configure and format the drive out to its full capasity within 20 minutes of the call. The man who took the call at Seagate could not answer me as to why the software was not included in the purchase. After spending close to $200 for this hardware and the experience, I will never shop there again and either shop onlineor pay more for my products somewhere else. I will never recommend the store to other friends again.

How is that Fry's fault?

Tanie,

How is that Fry's fault that SeaGate didn't include the software with the hard drive? Fry's doesn't open all of the items they sell and make sure every possible peice of software is in there, that's why they have a 30 day return policy. That's also why the company that makes the product has technical support and most of them even have drivers that you con download off of their web sites. Take my printer for example: I purchased a $300 HP all-in-one (printer, scanner, etc) printer from Best Buy, got it home and discovered that it didn't have the software that was compatilbe with XP Pro. Guess what I did?, I went to HP's web site and downloaded the driver FREE, and now it works perfectly. So, before you blame the store, maybe you should ask SeaGate why it wasn't in the package, and maybe boycot SeaGate. And I'm not an employee of Fry's nor have I been in the past. I'm just a more informed consumer than you seem to be.
