The terms of rebate qualification are not disclosed prior to or even upon purchase and are only made available AFTER product purchase and folowing the website link on their printed reciept.
We all know that rebates are meant to be difficult to process but Frys have made it virtually impossible to comprehend. This particular complaint is specific to that issue, but I have a feeling that despite investing considerable time in processing my rebate I still will not qualify, even though I have been meticulous in submitting all required info and making sure if it asked for a copy, they get a copy, or an original if that was asked for. However that is conjecture at this point, but that is how Fry's method of doing business has made me feel!
On accessing their rebate webpage I was referred to a Laplink rebate submission form, which stated that the product had to be opened and registered before a rebate could be submitted. Also a required field on their form requested that the serial # be provided. The only way of doing this was by opening the box, thereby losing return rights. They also required a copy of my drivers license! My mindset at this point was divided between going along with all that bs, returning product unopened, or throwing the whole thing in the garbage and just never shpping at Frys again. As I already had expended time up to this point, the prospect of enduring their return hassle and having to have maybe 3-4 employees approve the various stages was not very attractive. Throwing it into the trash was definitely a consideration, but seeing as I had already spent all that time I thought maybe another 10 minutes would take care of it. Wrong! It just got worse. I filled out the online form and hit submit only to find that the submit link was a dead end. I Tried opening up the whle thing in another browse but had to start the miserable process over again but with the exact same result. Threr was an option offered which was to print out the rebate form from another link and fill it out by hand and mail it in with all he other required docs. I even went so far as to do that being as by that time I had already invested an hour.
We will see if I ever get the rebate. If not I shall file another report. Whether I do or not, I am through shopping at Frys as they should not be offering rebates if they are not prepared to gracefully accept a submission with reasonable terms.
