Fun For Life Club International Fraud for Life Mississauga Ontario
We attended a Bridal Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Rogers Centre in January of 2007. We filled out so many ballots for free trips that we didn't know which show Fun For Life had gotten our information from.
At the end of February 2007 we received a phone call from Fun For Life claiming that we had won a prize. They told us that we could pick from four fabulous prizes and they were not selling anything. They made an appointment with us for March 04 2007 for us to claim our prize.
When we got there they explained that their presentation would take an hour and a half. We sat through three hours of negotiations on their product and they then began to try to sell us on some sort of travel membership opportunities where we can save so much money. They had tried and tried to sell their product and we had refused. They then said that if we gave them a deposit of money ($1,835.40) they would pay for an all inclusive stay anywhere in Mexico for our honeymoon. The speaker who presented this idea was named Joel and the agents name was Eugene. We talked it over and agreed that $1,835.40 for an all inclusive honeymoon anywhere in Mexico was a great deal and signed the deal.
It was now the 7 days after the agreement we were skeptical of what we had done. We read the fine print and under the Consumer Protection Act, it said that we had 15 days to cancel our agreement with Fun For Life from the date of the agreement. We had called and called the office and left messages explaining that we wanted to cancel our contract through secretaries, email, and answering machines. They were either not picking up the phone or telling us they would call us back.
On the 13th day of the contract I had got a hold of a man named Bill who said that he was willing to revoke the contract. I had given him our contract # and all the information and he said we were to receive a cheque in the mail for the down payment we had paid. We waited 2 months with still no sign of a cheque.
For the two months we had been trying to contact Bill. Reception kept telling us he was busy or away from the office. It was now time for me to visit Fun For Life and speak to Bill. When I got there they had said that Bill had left the company because of an illness. The person now replacing him was Brian Head. We sat down in Brian's office for two hours discussing our situation and how outraged we were about the situation at hand. He told us that it was important for us to have all the documentation signed and dated. He told us that he would pay for an all inclusive trip for 2 at Brisas Guardalavaca in Cuba courtesy of Fun For Life. This trip was to be booked for the 26th of August and returning back the 2nd of September. This was to be booked with Angie Commelo. This was signed by Brian Head and dated on May19th on behalf of Fun For Life International. He said that Angie would be contacting us for us to pick up our tickets. He explained that we would be able to pick up the tickets 3 weeks before the departure.
It was now August 2007 and we were set to leave for our honeymoon on August 26th. I had been trying to get a hold of Brian and once again all my calls where ignored. When I finally got a hold of him I had to explain the situation to him again and he said he would investigate why Angie had not called us. It was now a week before the wedding and nothing was being done about issuing the tickets. I had told reception that if Brian does not resolve this issue by August 21st I will personally come down and handle this situation.
I began to do some research on the company and found out that they had recently been on City TV's Silverman Helps. They had ripped off other couples from the Bridal shows. Now I was furious and still received no call or confirmation so I proceeded to Fun For Lifes Office in Mississauga on the 21st of August.
When I was waiting in the reception I noticed the owner Cecil come out and talk to the receptionist about who I was and turned around and walked off before I could get a hold of him. Brian had then come out and greeted me like nothing was wrong. He then took me into the office and said I would have to pay for the honeymoon. I didn't think a company could be so deceitful and untrustworthy until he came up with that solution. I told him I had paid his company the down payment and haven't received anything in return and also showed him the written letter from himself that Fun For Life would pay for the honeymoon. I told him that if they would not honor the signed agreement I would take them to court. I told him that I wanted to see the owner and I would talk to him about the matter. He left the office and came back and said that Cecil did not want to speak to me and will not honor the agreement.
We filed with the government agency that looks after the Consumer Protection Bureau and they are investigating this company. If anyone has any information to pass on, please contact me at (((REDACTED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES)))
This company is not to be trusted. They will do nothing but lie.
