Purchased two "Magnavox" TV converter boxes (convert digital TV to analog for my old TVs) on Sept 17, 2008. One worked fine (and still does); the other did not work. Called the number on the back of the unit, convinced them I had a non-functional unit. They mailed a paid-for return box to send it back in, and promised a replacement unit in 8 to 10 weeks. Sent my defective unit back.

Waited until January 2009, had heard nothing. Called again, they verified receipt of my defective unit, received apology, got transferred to "level two" support, and was instructed to call back again if I had not received a replacement unit by Feb. 20.

Waited until March 20, called them again. Received apology, and was told that "level 3 service" will contact me on Monday 3/23/2009. I'm not holding my breath.

My advice: Avoid anything made by Funai Corp. This includes electronics made for various familiar brand names, such as Magnavox, Sylvania, Emerson, Kodak, etc.

You were VERY fortunate to have received your converter. And it's common knowledge that Funai and associated brand names are JUNK, built to last 90 days or less. Anyone who purchases any of these products is wasting their money.

After 8 months and 2 days (and innumerable phone calls) I finally received a working TV converter box. My advice remains the same: Avoid Funai products.
