G Adventures They took a deposit for a trip, then they cancelled it, then refused to return the deposit Boston MA
A group of nurses booked a once-in-a-lifetime trip with G Adventures to Antarctica before the pandemic hit. It was scheduled for January 2021, but G Adventures cancelled it. The company refused to return deposits. And it’s not like it’s some small company that ran out of money. It’s a big player in travel called G Adventures.
When G Adventures rudely told them to take a hike, the group was forced to dispute thousands of dollars of charges with their credit card companies - but G Adventures fought and won in one of the cases. They claim they offer a “credit” to be used on some future trip - despite the fact that the trip was cancelled and there’s no reasonable way to replace a January 2021 trip to Antarctica with whatever b.s. they want her to take in 2023 (when the remaining nurse's friends aren’t available anymore and she doesn’t have the time or interest in a COVID uncertain world).
This "credit" is literally worthless. In the best of scenarios, she can use it in several years after the pandemic is totally over, but not without paying more money to these crooks for what will bear zero resemblance to what she originally agreed to purchase.
It's shameful that they think they can just swap a very specific event for another one in the nebulous future and consider it like for like. This company has no shame and needs to be stopped. Stealing $1,000 from a nurse during the pandemic is a crime.
