G4s security Wackenhut security Unfair treatment of workers Livonia , Michigan
The Security Staff at the Chrysler Warren Truck Assembly Plant has the most horrible account manager. The Security there has a union but the Account Manager Brad continues to violate the contract negotiated between the SPFPA Union and G4s and G4s continues to allow him to do it. Every time someone is given a disciplinary write up there are progression steps to follow.
Brad wantonly disregards those steps. If Brad was a Chrysler worker the UAW would chew him a new one. The guards are made to drive unsafe vehicles and work in dirty filthy security booths that often have exposed electrical wiring which if OSHA was notified would cause someone a lot of trouble.
In the winter time I have notice guard in the booths with two coats on and duct taping the doors to try to keep what little heat they have in their booths in. In the summer they have to put up with air conditioners with filter that have probably not be changed in years as you can tell by how black the filter and the surrounding area is.
Many if not all of the guards speak about how he has no human relation skills when dealing with employees. In fact he does everything to avoid them. Not once has he personally checked the work conditions of the workers or tried to boost moral at the workplace.
Moral among the these workers are extremely low. Just recently a worker was put on notice for simply commenting that he preferred a particular work station. Some of the security guards have commented that they thought that some of the unfair treatment may be racially motivated.
The workers at Chrysler has a strong Union and this kind of behavior would never be allowed. Its sad that their manager has a poor slipshod way of managing his workers. I have even learned that his behavior started when he was working for Securitas Security. I may not be able to help these workers but I can voice my concerns here. Its sad to have such a utter horror of a human being for a Management supervisor. I doubt if he ever had any REAL formal training in the area of Customer relation or simply human relations.

I have years into Wackenthut/G4S and with the client, Chrysler. We too at our site, experience similar problems and get no where. Our union as a local is strong, but will never be where we want to be like UAW. My experience as an executive member of the local union I have witnessed the relationships between our National Union Members and G4S employees that represent the Chrysler account.
Good luck to you and with all the employees. Use the chain of command and exhaust ALL levels AND always have a paper trail. Documentation is key! Unfortunately when it comes to G4S and SPFPA it doesn't always help, and I'm sorry to sound negitive, but again I have years experience with the company and with the union. The documentation will come handy one way or another, but most likely if you have to contact the NLRB or even take it further.

Don't make a fuss.
Just call OSHA and report the Health and Safety violations.
What happens then should be fun to watch.
