After dining at Gabose (mediocre food and horrible service) for the 3rd time I noticed an automatic 18% gratuity added on to my bill.  It struck me as odd since I could not remember seeing any signs posted in the restaurant that gratuity was added automatically (as is required by law).  I then proceeded to move around the restaurant searching for such a sign, and when I could find none I sat back down at my table.

The owner approached our table and says "I took the liberty of adding the gratuity on to your bill because the last time you were here you spent $120 and left only a $4 tip".  Last I knew tips were earned, not automatic, and they are given based on the quality of service received (which on the night we left a $4 tip was poor at best).  I said "oh, so now you get to tell the customers how much tip we have to pay regardless of your service?" and he says "Yes, I make all the rules, I am the owner".  I told him that with an attitude like the one he has, he would never see me in his establishment again and proceeded to walk out the door.

The owner then took my partner (who is Korean) aside as I walked out the door, and proceeded to degrade myself and her in front of the customers in the restaurant (in both English and Korean).  He stated out loud that we were rude lesbians, and how he dislikes gay people dining in his restaurant which he finds offensive amongst other hateful remarks.  He told her that if we ever showed our face back at his restaurant that he would call the police.  Had we been displaying affection or anything else to elicit this behavior from the owner, perhaps his opinions would be warranted, however we did nothing of the sort.  This was the first time we've been singled out and harassed in a restaurant for being gay, let alone after eating food I didn't care much for but likewise didn't make a single complaint about.  In other restaurants I have been given VIP cards for 50% off drinks for how polite I am even when dis-satisfied, and here I show no dis-satisfaction and I am treated like trash.

For anyone gay, or who simply has respect for themselves, stay away from Gabose.  We initially started eating here because my wife liked their food, but after eating a few times the quality was less and less and she liked it less and less.  We have found a much better Korean restaurant across the street called Manna.  Friendly service, good prices, nice to gays, and no shady or illegal business practices.  BEWARE of GABOSE.

I think the report must be fake.  It states that the owner "he" said all of these things.  what dude dislikes asian lesbians?  What, does he also hate beer and football?  Well..I guess there is a remote chance she could be fat..and that would be pretty nasty..but most asians are not fat.  The post is probably fake.

I have many questions for you!!!

Question 1.  If the service was sooooo poor last time, where u only left a 4.00 tip, then why did you come back to the resturant again????

Question 2.  I could give a rats butt if the owner decides he doesnt like Gay people. This is America, and last I checked everybody is entitled to their own opinons, Not just the Gays who want to force their lifestyle down our throats.  Now I have a question, how did the owner o

Question 3.  You refered to your partner as Korean also, but also refered to her as your wife.  Per Wikipedia, Gay Marriages are not yet recognized in Flordia, so I think you err in refering to your sex partner as your wife.  See below (per wikipedia)

Under current Florida law, same-sex marriages, civil unions, and domestic partnerships are not recognized.[1] Same-sex marriage and civil unions were constitutionally banned on November 6, 2008 with 62% of the vote.[2][3] In Florida, at least 60% of the population must approve a ballot measure for it to become the law.[4]

Looks like 62 pct of your population dont like Gays either.

In conclusion, waiters, and waitresses only make about 2.00 per hour, and they rely on tips (which by the way, they have to share with the cook staff, and the busboys, and hostesses).  However The IRS has required all resturants to keep track of the total $$$ value of each meal ticket, and report that total amount to them, and the IRS Assumes that a 15PCT Tip was included.  So in fact when you only gave 4.00 to the waitress on a 102.00 bil, the waitress only earned 4.00 but 15.00 was reported to the IRS in wages.  So you stiffed her out of a lot more than just 11.00

Tipping is a rip off

I've almost entirely stopped going to places where they expect a tip.  I can understand that the waiters make low wages and have no problem with tipping them a few dollars, but how is it that bringing your $50 steaks to you (which would take as much effort as a $5 salad) entitles them to an 18% tip I can never understand.  Yes..they have bills to pay etc... thats why waiting tables is somthing that a person does to supplement their income while in school or trying to learn a more marketable skill..its not a life long career where a person should just "get" a good wage because they work hard.  And yes, I know they work hard.  Compensation is not about how hard a person works, it is about how much value they add and how easily they can be replaced.  That is what motivates people to learn skills that allow them to add more value.  When people learn skills that allow them to add more value it benefits our economy.  This is why America became so prosperous, and why we are headed down the drain now because we pay to sustain people in low (or zero)productivity roles by supplementing their incomes (foodstamps, welfare etc) when if those programs did not exist, those people would be forced to develop skills that are sufficient to provide for themselves and their families.  The cost of these programs is much more than just the amount paid to freeloaders...it is the amount paid to the freeloaders plus the excess productivity that the freeloader would contribute to the economy if forced to produce atleast as much wealth as they consume.  (assuming of course that they would choose to do so..these days many of them would rather sit there with their hand out and starve than put in a honest days work.)  Want to fix America?  End all of these stupid programs for everyone who is not disabled to the point of being unable to provide for themselves (I'm talking no arms and no legs, or born retarded - not these fake little disabilities that people come up with to milk the system.)
