U.S. Subscription Services solicited me by telephone and offered to extend my subscription to Autoweek magazine for three years for the price of $74.88. I refused their offer to pay by credit card and requested that I be billed by mail. When I received the bill, I contacted Autoweek.

Having read an article about subscription services, that were fraudulently soliciting subscription extensions from current Autoweek customers, I found that U.S. Subscription Services was not authorized by Autoweek to extend subscriptions.

I called U.S. Subscription Services and cancelled their offer. They said that I could not cancel their offer. U.S. Subscription Services had never extended my subscription. I replied that they had not provided the subscription service that was offered and that I was not interested in having that service provided. Furthermore I stated that they had no authorization from Autoweek to provide this service. They said that they would refer my bill to a collection agency and my refusal to pay would ruin my credit.

Last week I received a letter from Galaxy Credit saying that they were attempting to collect this bill for $74.88 for their client U.S. Subscription Services. It seems that other people have been affected by a similar scam by subscription renewal services and Galaxy Credit's attempt to collect frauduent claims.

I have contacted Autoweek and will be contacting the Attorney General of the State of Michigan about this scam. Hopefully this will put a stop to their illegal harrasment of magazine subscribers.
