On February 18,2009 I received a phone call from a representative at Galerie Jen-Art, Shawn Mayo, assuming I wanted to do business with him. I asked why HE was contacting me instead of the representative I had dealt with for my recent art purchase of $9000 from Galerie Jen-Art. In response, I found Mr. Mayo's explanation and reaction to my question a very rude and unprofessional approach which was aggravating to the situation he described to me. In addition I informed Mr. Mayo that I had not received a certificate of authenticity or appraisal with the recent purchase of a Luis Sottil artwork which I am accustomed to receiving with my purchases. He said he would look into that. This Luis Sottil artwork was touted to be one of six valuable works which was on display in the Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom. I have discovered that the work was actually reproduced by someone other than Luis Sottil, ad infinitum.

On March 20, 2009 I demanded a refund of my money from Galerie Jen-Art and this is when my nightmare began. Joe Cohen, the owner of Galerie Jen-Art refuses to take responsibility for the misconduct of his company and was rude, obnoxious and condescending to me. His behavior I found very offensive and unprofessional. He had numerous, unending accusations about everyone else connected to my purchase transaction, but refused to accept responsibility for what his company sold me and refused to refund my money.

I want to warn anyone who has purchased art through Galerie Jen-Art that this has happened. I would like to hear from anyone who has purchased, particularly a Luis Sottil artwork, through Galerie Jen-Art. Maybe we can stop this company from taking advantage of its clients, for I am positive I am not the only person who has been cheated. Galerie Jen-Art, a company that lies about the art it is selling at THESE PRICES
should not be allowed to do business.

NAME OF DISGRUNTLED EX-EMPLOYEE OF JEN-ART REVEALED.

The representative that you dealt with initially at Galerie Jen-Art is PETER MCMAHON, which this report neglects to mention. Mr. MCMAHON was the person responsible for your $9,000.00 transaction made on November 19, 2009. He worked with our firm for less than two months in total. Mr. Shawn Mayo , who has been employed with our firm for over nine years, contacted you in order to complete your transaction made with Mr. MCMAHON, since you agreed to send a piece to us in the transaction. Mr. Mayo's approach was most professional as was always the case over the nine year period and his conversation with you was witnessed by several other employees including the owner of the gallery. Your artwork purchased was shipped to you on January 21, 2009 since you required us to finance your transaction for a period of sixty days. When you received the artwork you did not call us to voice any discontent and all artwork sold by us comes with a full 30 Day Money Back approval period. A Certificate of Authenticity was sent to you four weeks after shipment as is customary. The report claims that this Luis Sottil artwork was touted to be one of six valuable works of Luis Sottil which was on display in the Disney World Animal Kingdom, but the author of the report fails to mention that PETER MCMAHON was the individual who sold you the artwork and made these claims. Your conversation with Mr. Mayo was abrupt and brief and you refused to allow our firm to complete the transaction.

Furthermore, when you requested a refund from us after speaking on a regular basis to PETER MCMAHON, we advised you in writing that we had agreed to refund your transaction in full in exchange for an understanding that you cannot do ANY further business with our firm. (Please see attached document). As with both reports on Galerie Jen-Art on this website, you mention words such as, rude, obnoxious, condescending, unprofessional referring to all employees of the gallery as well as the owner. In this industry, all those who are familiar with PETER MCMAHON and his dealings in the art market, are well aware that these traits are symbolic of his nature. All one has to do is a search on this website on the name PETER MCMAHON to discover who he is. The tone of this blog resembles coincidentally with the other and it seems they are dictated by the same person, a disgruntled ex-Galerie Jen-Art employee named PETER MCMAHON. Since it is clear that there is no interest in reversing the transaction with a full refund and parting as friends this is a malicious attempt to discredit a firm which has a stellar reputation for the last decade and whose clients overwhelmingly enjoy working with . Any person who would act in such a fashion has probably nothing better to do with their time.
