Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. said they paid claim-went to buy car & found out 11/2yrs later they did not! Rip-off! Orlando Florida
I was hurt on the job, filed claim appropriately, went to emergency room. Racked up a 981.75 bill, associated with a physician's bill for 154.00, and a lab bill for 34.00. They were filed towards Workman's Comp which was Gallagher Basset, Adjuster Debbie Lewis. Six months after the claim I started receiving delinquent bills because they had not paid, and of course they want their intitled $$$. Sent via fax the bills to Debbie Lewis, spoke to her on several occasions, and was assured this claim would be paid. I later received a letter stating they were done processing my claim and a questionnaire asking how did I rate their services. I responded-not very effeciently.
Heard nothing until 1 1/2 yrs later when I went to buy a car and saw it on my credit reports as a derrogatory. I had almost perfect credit, and I've never paid any of my bills late. How embarrassing to be told your credit rating is now 649 when I've always strived 723 or better. There goes my low apr, and my plans for a new car until this is straightened out. Please Help!! If anyone has any insight as to how I can rectify this manner in an extremely efficient and positive way, please respond!!! They only paid the $34.00 bill. Fustrated.

I agree with Sherri's comment except that you need to contact a bad faith insurance attorney, not a workers comp attorney. I did, and am most happy!

DEALING WITH GB?? YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY GET AN ATTORNEY!!!!!

You need to run, not walk to the nearest Work Comp attorney. Without one, Gallagher-Bassett will give you the run around and trample all over your rights, authorize procedures and not pay, and hope that you will go away.
One thing: IF your adjuster authorized medical care and GB didn't pay, in most states, the medical care provider CANNOT bill you for it. If GB didn't pay, the provider must then go after Gallagher-Bassett. Another reason to consult with a WC attorney, as if this is the case in your state, he/she can "encourage" the provider to remove this from your credit.
I know this company well from a medical provider standpoint..they are HORRIBLE about authorizing procedures to get the injured worker off their backs, then collecting from them is like pulling teeth.
