i received a letter saying i had won 50,400.00 and a check for 2950.00 to deposit immediately upon receiving. I did not enter a thanksgiving sweepstakes and I knew that this was a scam so I did nothing with the check and intend to turn it over to the police, the check sure looks like its a real one, I can see how alot of people would be fooled by this. Be careful, the second you deposit one of these then these crooks will have your bank account number! The things that tipped me off were the date on the check versus the date on the letter and the one on the envelope and there was no return website address and when the phone number was called there was a recording saying the mailbox was full, now come on, if you are a company as big as readers digest and publishers clearinghouse then you would know that they would not have a full mailbox! So I got on my trusty ol' computer and looked it up and sure enough I found the exact same scam pulled on someone else. Not sure whether to curse or bless technology but without it who knows, I might have taken it to the bank! Without it I might have never got the thing in the mail. I feel sorry for anyone who falls for this!
