My family was all excited about the prospect of having a new ping pong table. We ordered one from gametablers4less. We received curbside delivery. While the table was still on the truck, my husband and son looked it over. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and my husband said that he didn't see any apparent damage to the outside. The store's shipping policy stated that "if you see damage to outside of crate or carton, to sign receipt subject to further inspect, could contain concealed damage. From all appearances, this item seemed fine.

As soon as it was brought into the house and the plastic bubble wrap was removed, two areas where chunks of wood were missing were noted. The damage was in such a place where unless you removed the entire bubble wrap (there was no crate or carton) and scattered the pieces all over the truck, you'd never see it.

We immediately called gametables4less and spoke to David Berner, who told us we had to file a claim with the shipping company, A Duie Pyle, Inc. We did this and were denied. They are both ignoring us and basically have told us, "too bad". David Berner kept saying "there must have been damage on the outside. How many times did we have to say, no there wasn't, it was wrapped in bubble wrap. We paid a lot of money for a damaged table.

Where is the consumer protection from these people? They are hiding behind a technicality (we signed the receipt!) which they feel doesn't make them at all responsible for the fact that a consumer received damaged merchandise. This should not be allowed. To make matters worse, I researched this David Berner and gametables4less (should have done this first) on the BBB and found out that this company has a history of unreliability and an "F" rating by the BBB.
I plan on taking this matter to small claims court. Hopefully there is justice in this world.
