Its disconcerting in this day and age to have someone mislead and take advantage on honest people who are just trying to get by in life. I purchased a '97 Dodge Neon form there in late 2007. I had just lost my vehicle that I was using to get my mother to and from work, as well as get myself to work and school.

Garrison's is only a few blocks from my house, so I went up there with my mother and a good friend of mine. It was an icy winter day, so we conducted alot of business inside. I was able to go, start up the car, test all the features, but not allowed to drive it off the lot for a test drive. I know virtually nothing about cars so I though the car was in good working order. I was also assured my Mr. Garrison himself that the car had just been inspected and passed with no issues to worry about. After this point, it started going all downhill.

Mr. Garrison worked on some paperwork for me to be able to lease the car with my mom as a co-signer. After about an hour he informed us that we were able to get approved for the lease and that the over all cost would be $5000-6000 for the car after just the base value of the car and after market cost, but nothing about interest.

He assured me that this was a good deal and I was in a situation where it was this or my family would lose their source of income as my mother and I would have to quit our jobs. Everything worked out on the car at first. Then a month later everything just quit working. From Nov. of 07 to Feb. of 08 I had to replace the radiator, water pump, starter, alternator and brakes multiple times. Some of the things not fixable due to money issues were the faulty electronic system that caused the dash gauges to quit working and the fuel injection system which made the car stall out when driving on the highway (extremely dangerous).

That is about the time I started investigating the actually cost of the car. It ended up that Garrison was charging me 150% of the car's value in after market cost alone. Kelly Blue Book shows what the cost of the car should have been in excellent condition, and it was far from that:

(((Redacted)))
Well at this point I had already payed them $2,500 and had lost my job because the car had broken down to the point where it was un-drivable, once again sticking me in a bad situation. I tried to contact Garrison several times to work something out, but was never able to get any assistance. Then, not to long after, they come and repo the car. I no longer have possession of it at this time.

Then I get a call a few weeks ago telling me that they filed a collections notice with Credit World Service for the remaining balance. Is Garrison's so money hungry that they will milk unemployed Missouri citizens for every dime they have? I have no way of repaying this debt and now they are trying to go after my mother, who has to take the bus to work as it is.

My suggestion: Don't purchase from Garrison Auto Sales. They have no shred of decency and will manipulate you for every dime possible.

Just to get this story straight. You purchased a car without having a mechanic check it over? You should always have one check a car over before purchasing. That is strike one on your case. Then you signed a contract to purchase the car without reading it and without understanding what you were signing? strike number two. Then you find out they are charging you too much for the vehicle after you purchase it? In the future you should check the price in the blue book before purchase.

Finally you defaulted on the contract you signed and are now upset because the company is suing you to reclaim the loss on their property? Yes, their property. The car was not yours until you had finished paying for it.

It sounds as if the car dealer may have been ripping you off, but a little research and common sense could have prevented the situation.
