Complaint Review: Gary L. Griffin DDS

Beware: You may have seen this guy on local television telling all if they have ugly teeth, he can give them a beautiful, painless smile.

Perhaps he will give you a 'beautiful' smile but as far as the painless part...you're bank account may be in tremendous amount of pain!

After consulting with this doctor regarding my Tetricylen stained teeth and the possibility of getting crowns and/or veneers, he talked me into going a head with a short examination, which he said the cost was minimal, so he would have a better idea of how much my "total" cost would be...I agreed to the exam. This whole process took a good 1-1/2 - 2 hours, all the while, he was flirting and trying his very best to impress me to all ends.

During and after the exam, I asked him how much the 'total' would run me. After many times of changing the subject and leaving the area for what ever reasons, he finally had his girl work up the cost.

To my astonishment, he wanted $32,000! He joked about it and said 'hey, just think of it as getting a new smile instead of a new car this year'. I don't know about you, but I can't afford a $32,000 car and certainly can't afford it for my teeth either. I told him I needed to think about it and would get back to him. Upon leaving his office, I was slapped with a $200.00 bill for a 5 minute exam and a couple x-rays. I was in shock but paid the bill...after all, I did authorize it.

Needless to say, I got a couple other consultations, both of which were from $10,000 - $15,000...for performing the same procedures (you do the math). I finally decided on Dr. Su Kang. Not only were his rates a lot lower (he'll charge $80 for an exam, not $200!), but he is a terrific dentist and really knows his craft. I just finished up, have my new smile and a lot more money still in the bank because of him.

Sorry Dr. Griffin...guess you'll have to con some other sucker to pay for your next Jaguar!
