Gateway Computers charged for expedited delivery and then couldn't provide any delivery information; and charged credit card days after cancelation of order. Irvine California
I placed an order for a computer system with Gateway on 9/14/06. I agreed to pay for expedited delivery and they quoted me a shipment date of 9/20/06 with delivery on 9/22/06. On 9/20/06 their website still promised a 9/22/06 delivery, but they had not shipped, could not give me a date when it would be shipped and told me that, as it was coming from overseas, they couldn't expedite delivery anyway. I canceled the order.
They had shipped a set of speakers on 9/15/06 (fat lot of use!!) and provided me an RMA to return them. On 9/21/06 Janelle Haines confirmed in an email: "Your card will not be charged". But on 9/22/06 they went ahead and charged me for the speakers INCLUDING a huge charge for expedited shipment of the speakers.
I returned the speakers promptly after canceling the order, and so far, they have not given me a credit -- for the charge that should never have been made in the first place.
Throughout this ordeal, their customer service has been horrific! In the words of Lee (GWPC132): "Your extended patience is highly recommended". For whose benefit is this recommendation?
