Gateway Computers ripoff Irvine California
I purchased a computer from Gateway 11/2001. It was delivered promptly. It had no sound, so I immediately called tech support. Thye had me remove the computer back and do thier job via the phone. They said it was the speakers, and sent a new pair. This did not rectify the problem.
I called again. Tech support had me remove the back of the computer and try to fix it again. Finally they said they would have ups pick it up and send a new one. They picked it up and sent a new one. The second computer was worse than the first. It had no sound, and no CD writer. I called tech support, they said oh sorry. We'll send you a check for 30.00 for the lack of a CD writer. I said no I want the computer I ordered for 1700.00. They said they could not take the computer back. It had a broken floppy disk drive, no sound card, and it crashed. I tried to use it like that but it didnt work .
I called again and told them to come and pick it up, they said they couldnt take it back. I gave up, I didnt pay for it took it to a reputable computer store and had it fixed. It was 400.00. I wrote to gateway and they never answered. I recently wrote to the executive response team and they said the claim was too old and would not be lenient.
I havent paid for it but I'm being harrassed by West Mamagement Assest for not paying. I'm sending another letter to Gateway in hopes of a compromise or at least an opportunity to send it back once and for all. They have been ridicilous in their approach and having me a door mechanic fixing a computer? I want them to take it back remove this blemish from my credit report and have west Management Assesst stop harrassing me.
