Total and complete RIP-OFF!

I purchased a warranty on a used 2001 Chev Malibu with 43,000 miles. The warranty was set-up to pay in one large initial sum ($329.00), with smaller monthly payments over 8 months ($37.50/mo.).

I did all required warranty work- the initial oil/transmission fluid additives and oil changes, etc.

Before the warranty took effect, there was also a 90 days and 1000 mile "window", which occurred after the initial purchase date of the warranty, wherein no claim could be filed until this mileag/time had been exceeded.

I went through the "window" (req'd time period/mileage), and not long after, I did have trouble from the vehicle, requiring a complete valve job, and approximately $1800 work was done to the vehicle.

Before the work was done, Gateway sent an agent out to inspect the car, and they claimed that the repair work was not covered because it was from "pre-existing conditions" even though I had met the required 90 days AND 1000 mile window before the warranty would take effect.

I personally spoke to Lynn Murphy (when I was able to reach her- she would not return phone calls, or even answer my calls unless I did not reveal who was calling). She would not agree to cover any work (I had to have the work done, and paid for it myself, because I had to have the car in running condition).

After much complaining, I was finally able to get back about half the money I had paid out to Gateway Management and to the Premium 2000 Plus dealer that I had purchased the warranty from (Hal Moses- Auto Advantage, 3494 Overlook Ave., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598).

I considered filing a complaint with the Attorney General of my state, but was just fed up with dealing with Lynn and Gateway Management.

They are truly a rip-off. The warranty claims that pre-existing damage is any damage that might occur before the 90 days/1000 miles occurs, but in reality, they have the right to claim ANYTHING, even after the time/mileage window, is pre-existing.

I would advise EVERYONE to stay away from Gateway Management/Premium 2000 Plus, as well as any dealer of their warranties, such as Hal Moses' Auto Advantage.

Thank You.
