Gateway Melon Machine nothing but problems

Beware to those thinking of buying from these people!!! My "dream" machine turned into a nightmare. I bought it and started out fine until my printer broke in the first year, I called as I had the "extended" warranty but found out my printer is not covered by the warranty so I had to go out and buy another one.

Second knowing enough about computers I had to dump and reformat about a dozen times in the past two years....when I called Gateway about it they take me through the same crude steps over and over again. After the problem is unsolveable they tell me to reformat and tell me to have a great day. So I trudge through again and again with the same problems.

My machine is now three years old,it runs everything I need it to run, except my drivers cannot be updated as the sound card is made by a company no longer in business and the video drivers "do not exist".

When I run the auto update feature it downloads drivers for my modem which causes it not to work, and it tries to download drivers for my 3D card which causes me to re-install the original drivers from the CD.

My final problem with these people are after all these problems they tell me they will give me 75.00 for my WHOLE system, and take that off a brand new one.......Is it me or did the gateway to happiness close?
