GATEWAY NEVER BUY GATEWAY North Sioux City South Dakota
I bought a gateway solo 9500 about 1 year ago.
I have sent it in for repairs so many times i lost track.
Now they want me to sent everything power, software and all thing i got when i first got this pos laptop.
So i called them telling the techs that i want my money back before i give you this laptop back.
I am currently using for school. I wasted over 2,100 or more dollars on this pos and now i have a dell worth 2,300 on order. That is 2 full times summers and some part time help to pay for these 2 things. When i bought this gateway i was expecting to last at least 3 years for college.
but NO They told me they would send me a new laptop but instead i got paper work saying they want all stuff i got when got this laptop back.
So i called them and told them how am i suppose to back all my files up i need for school. THe d**n tech told me i was suppose to back it up on floppy disks. I have a 20 gig hard drive in this laptop and it would take over 50,000 disks to back up all files i need for college and what not.
I told them i can not send this in right now i have college and i need laptop to do test, homework and what now. The tech told me well i am sorry but that is not my area.
One of the techs put the phone down and started laughing and telling other people she was working with and then she came back and made me say eveything all over again.
SO i got ticked and bought a new laptop from dell.
And that money was going to be used for going on a honeymoon in less then a year. I guess we will have to go somewhere else now thanks to gateway.
tell you one thing i am telling everyone where i live, work and go not to buy a gateway because they suck

Your right Gateway does suck a*s and there service also sucks, I know because it used to be one of them. Just like any company no one really gives two shits about the customer, we just give you what you want so you will shut the hell up...........I hated the Gateway customers when i worked there, but I also hated the company and guss what, I still do.

There's no way you have 20GB of school files.

You don't have 20GB of school files. All your personal files by Windows default are stored under C:\My Documents and its subfolders. Try looking at the size of this folder alone. It is a good possibility that it could take more than one diskette to backup this folder; but, if you use a backup program or a zip program (ex. WinZip - free version available at winzip.com). Winzip will compress the folder, all its subfolders, and files into one .zip file. You can then just copy this to a single diskette. There is no way you should have too much to fit on one disk. Try this, hope it helps. By the way I hope this isn't true for you but I have heard very similar horror stories about DELL!
