Gateway ripoff Fake cpu in computor N. Sioux City South Dakota
I bought five computors for christms presents for my family and set them up . They were model 3200S, suposed to be pentium 4.
they ran too slow so tested them with troubleshooter and certify pc pro and they tested out to be cyrix processors and specs way below what they are suposed to be. I am batteling with gateway who insists they are genuine pentiums. The customer service reps just keep switching to other people and tech support hangs up on us. emails are the same way, with insisting on them being pentiums. I am now refusing to pay gateway until they settle this. Also they refused to send me a reciept and stated I had to wait 15 days after i had the systems. I waited the 15 days and emailed them and they told me i had to wait another 15 days to get a reciept.
It was a plot i am sure to go past the date for the rebates. I did get them on time and now hoping I will actually get the rebates. we also purchased a gateway one year ago a pentium also which we just found out also has a cyrix processor in it to. I am now writing the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General. What is wrong with this company? Has anyone else tested their systems out?
They were a lot better when they had the stores. they are a bad company now loosing too much MOOOO-la. They don't care!

I used to work for the worthless company that you wrote about. Just for clarificaiton, I am not a big fan of them after getting laid off after giving them 8 years of my life. If you truly what the best support that Gateway has to offer, then you need to get to the Emergency Response Team (ERT). To do this, simply write a letter to the company and address it to Ted Waitt. You could also try to email them. I do not know if they would answer an email or not, but it is worth a try. Send the e-mail to ert1@gateway.com

Clearly NOT supposed to be Pentium 4
#3Consumer Suggestion

If you took two minutes to visit the Gateway site, as I just did, you would see that model 3200SE (there is no 3200S listed) is the CHEAPEST (currently $399.99) one they sell. You would also notice that it CLEARLY ships with the Intel Celeron D Processor. In fact, NONE are shown to ship with a "Cyrix" processor. As far as I can tell, Gateway sells ONLY Intel products.
If you had wanted one with the Intel Pentium 4 Processor, you could have opted for the SECOND CHEAPEST unit (model 3250S) for $100.00 more.
Gateway provided the very inexpensive computer that YOU chose to order.
