I made the unfortunate mistake of purchasing a GATEWAY computer in October of this year. I was told I was buying a new system.
After the computer arrived we immediatly began having problems with it, the computer locked up, the monitor would not come out of sleep mode, the speakers didnt work half the time and it was slower that my old 486.
The computer was one you see advertised on T.V. for 799.00 yet mine costs 1400.00, with an interest rate of 28.8%. which i was not told about.
I have called tech support numerous times only to be told that it is AOLs fault," thier software is crap and it doesnt work properly." I have followed all thier instructions, disabling half the system tools and programs, deleating Norton antivirus which they provided with the system and then called "garbage"and rebooting and so on and so on. During one of the many crashes, I ran a diagnostic check on my monitor, interestingly it showed and initial service date of 9-97.. a 3 year old monitor!!!!!
I called customer support..(what a joke!!) and was told by one of thier hacks that "it is a new monitor, it has not been sold to the public" he was real careful to stress that it had not been in Public hands..hmmmm.
I sent a letter through PLANETFEEDBACK.com and i got a call from corporate telling me that they did consider that NEW, and as for the other problems, unless i was willing to once again deleat and disable more of the operating system then they couldnt help me, they also stated that they would not take the system back, which i have repeatedly asked them to do...i was even told by one worker that i was " STUCK WITH IT".
I have stopped making the payments and i have sent letters to elected officials in my state regarding the misrepresentation of the NEW product.
