GC Services - Collection Agency Deemed Evasive Internet
I was contacted by Dawnie from GC Services, last night around 8:15pm. It came up on my phone as a local number so my husband answered it. He handed the phone to me and she asked if it was me and gave the address of which I reside. She said that she was calling on behalf of CITI bank in regards to a credit card debt I have with them and asked if I was going to pay the full amount last night of $3,947.95, and I told her no, because I was working with American Financial Concepts, which is a debt settlement company. She said that they will not speak to any 3rd parties regarding my account. To make a long story short, she asked me my husband's name, place of employment and a number where they could reach him. I told her that I wasn't giving her that information, because he has nothing to do with my debts, nor does he know about them. She said that she is going to document in my file that I refuse to give out this information and I said fine. She then repeated herself. She gave me 2 options, 1) to pay off my debt in 6 mthly payments of $600+ and 2.) to pay $1973 by tomorrow (Tues., 11/10) and then pay $100/mth. interest free. I had to give them a good faith check in the amount of $50 and then I am to call her back tomorrow at 1pm. She said that she was located in San Diego. She said that I am deemed evasive and that CITI bank is demanding that I pay the full balance.
Unfortunately, I felt bullied and didn't know where to turn, so I gave her my checking account information for the $50. Does anyone have any advice for me? I do not have the $1900+ to pay them by TOMORROW!!!

Don't pay that.... do a 40% out and offer to pay tomorrow with a confirmed sttlement letter.
What they are doing is bullshit and if you call a few times you always can get an operator that will except a 40% out.

GC Services violated the Fair Debt Collecting Practices Act twice. The first time, when they gave me a quote owed of $3947.95 and then receiving a letter a week later stating an amount for approx. $150.00 LESS! The second time when they contacted my husband who is not on the account. They contacted him at work and on his cell and told him that I owe them $3800. I am working with a consumer attorney on this issue and hopefully it'll get resolved where I owe less than 1/2 or nothing at all. KEEP VIOLATING GC SERVICES! You're only digging yourself a bigger hole! I would've worked with you, but your reputation has gotten the best of your company!

companies are rip offs right? Ma'am, you're about to be in a heap o'trouble. You better fess up to hubby, cause in about 6 months they are all gonna want money and you will be sued. I would start saving if I was you, its gonna rain real hard on you very soon. I wish you luck.
The debt management company is laughing all the way to the bank, and you arent getting a nickel in credit for possibly the rest of your life. Its dead already.
I know what your going thru. I can help you if you want. Just write here.
This isnt internet BS, you're about to get bombarded by EVERY card you gave to the DMC, not just CITI. If the cards are in your husbands name and SS#, they have every right to call him at work, and if they find out where(its on credit pulls), you're going up the creek without a paddle. Get your hands on some money soon.

saw the other post, and DO NOT stop check or close your account. But, only if you know that you do owe the CITI people, and got behind. If you didnt, by all means yes.
Sounds to me like it is your debt, and if it is get set up on the payment plan, or the next step will be an attorney, I kid you not.
Then again, let it go to the attorney, and when he calls, they usually settle for 65%. Just be ready to pay in one lump sum. Best advice I can give you.

Do not pay a dime, how do you know she is collecting for citi bank, go to the bank and cancel your account or close it before you will regret your action. She should send you documentation. If did believes her, will I have bridge inSomalia for sale. If she was decent, will not make the call look local and tell you where she is calling from.
