I was laid off at the beginning of this year, along with many other people due to the economic crisis. I began looking for a job, and I applied to GDR thinking I had no chance seeing my college degree has nothing to do with marketing. I applied on a Saturday thinking I didn't have much of a chance, and first thing on Monday I received an email asking to call for an interview.

Wednesday came, and I went into an interview and hours later I was called back saying I got the second interview. Went in for a second interview on Thursday, and I was told I was one of 5 people selected for a second interview. Of course, hours later they called and notified me I had received the job.

Not once did they ask me why I wanted to get outside of my major, or anything about my past jobs. This to me, was a big warning sign. I called them back on Monday to tell them I decided not to accept the job due to the negative information I had found about the company on the internet. The lady at the front desk started to yell at me, and gave me a huge lecture on how I was missing out on a big opportunity. Furthermore she lectured me on how all the bad press came from their associates. Well, this is very interesting, because as a Marketing Firm?!?! they should be able to separate themselves and be able to market themselves separately. Even if their associates were a bad part of the firm, they are still guilty by their firm name.

I really couldn't believe that the front desk lady was getting upset at me for rejecting the job. This was another indicator that this company had a lot of people reject jobs due to the bad press. Furthermore, I am still receiving emails from monster.com that the company is looking for entry level managers... sure, there were only 2 jobs that had to be field.

Personally I would be very fishy of this company. They lack professionalism when I rejected them, and their interviews lasted maybe 3minutes and asked nothing about my true qualifications.
