He told me it would take 20 minutes for me to get the code to go to western union and pick up my loan amount. After 2 hours he told me the card was already registered to a lisa in a different state and needed to purchase another card. I declined and told him to cancel my loan. Alex started arguing with me and saying they will sue me for the loan amount and that I signed an agreement. i told him he was fraudulent and I hung up.

GE capital is a scam. they tell you that you are approved for a loan and tell you to purchase a green dot card and that your loan will be sent to you via western union. All lies. It is fraud.

It's not the real GE Capital - it's a scam

You were taken by a scammer, not GE Capital. These scammers use legitimate business names to sound like they are real companies but GE Capital (or any other legitimate co) wouldn't conduct business the way you describe.

  • It is not legal to collect a fee up front for a consumer loan. If there were a fee, the fee would be taken out of the proceeds.
  • Also, a legitimate company would not have you use Green Dot nor money gram nor western union in any way. That is a sure sign it is a scam.

Go to the FTC(dot)gov website and look up Advance Fee Loan Scams to see how they work so you can avoid them in the future. Remember there is an entire economy based off of people scamming others and it is in your best interest to know what to watch out for so you don't become a victim.
