We purchased a lap-top computer from Best Buy. We were finaced through GE Capital. The promotion was 1 1/2 years no interest. We paid this off in full about 3 weeks early. However, we continued to receive bills stating that we owed GE money.

I had always noticed on my statements that the numbers never quite jived - I assumed that they billed with the potential interest included (like many companies do) in case we failed to pay the laptop off before the end of the promotion term. But when I called to find out why I was still being billed GE claimed that we had signed up for credit card insurance in case of disability or death. This didn't make sense considering we don't even have mortgage insurance or disability insurance.

We actually have a copy of the application we filled out to get finacnced for our laptop - as it was sent to us from a private party in Illinois who received in place of his own requested info. This form had all of our personal information with our credit account # on it! Luckily he was an honest man and sent it to us.

This application clearly shows that we drew a line with a black marker through the box declining the insurance. Even with evidence such as this they continue to bill us and say we didn't notice the mistake in the first 60 days and are required to pay them the 22% interest of the total initial balance.

We refuse to pay and have since discovered that we have 3 negative marks on our credit from them - although we never received a final threatening bill saying they would report us. This company needs to go down! If a class action lawsuit is filed on this particular issue count us in.
