I am very upset with GE Electric. As I child my parents often purchased GE products. Of course as an adult I did the same. Six years ago, I purchased the (General Eletric D52GW12 52in. HDTV Ready CRT TV)
My television worked great up until six months ago. Just out of the blue,
When I try and turn the TV power on, the power light will blink on... then off.... blink on....then off... then on a third time... then off for good. The TV/picture never comes on. After a few minutes I do the same, Each time I try I get the same results.
When I purchased the TV at best buy, I also purchased the extended warrenty. So, I called GE's customer service, I was transferred to several people. I was talked to very badly and told that there was nothing they could do. I asked her if there was a recall on this part and she rudely said NO.
I told the customer service person that I was gonna report GE to the BBB. She said do whatever you want. After speaking with her, I contacted GE's Board of Director and was told again that basically there was nothing they could do for me.
I am just so frustrated, Six years is not the lifetime of a television...especially one that you invest a lot of money in. It may not be much to some people, but with the warranty, I paid almost two thousand dollars for this non working set that is just sitting in a corner in my livingroom.
I have since searched for other complaints from consumers, just to find that many have had the exact problem with this GE Television.
I know that things can happen, but GE should not take advantage of their customer like this. With so many people complaining about this set, the least they should do is offer their customers a recall on this part....
I lost my job several months ago and can't afford to pay the costly amount to have this short lived TV repaired.
I will never buy anything from GE again! Not even if they sold penny bubble gum! I am truly dissapointed and if there is ever a class action against them.....I would be front-in-line.

I too purchased the same GE HDTV 52" which I paid over $1000.00 for. This Television worked for less than a year.
When I hit the power button, the power button would flash three times and the TV wouldn't come on. I contacted GE trying to get either some of my money back or another television. GE pretty much acted as though this was my problem and not theirs.
$1000.00+ is a lot of money to just throw down the toilet. GE is a horrible company and I will never purchase anything with their name on it or anything they're affiliated with.
This is a form of theft and they should be made to pay for what they've done to many consumers.
