Freezer went out and spoiled approximately $500 worth of meat. This was an extra freezer, so it wasn't opened very often. the odor from the spoiled meat was horrible! The blood was in the insulation of the freezer, on the carpet underneath and on several other items that were on the floor around the freezer.

They sent a service man, which reported a new evaporator, condesor, compressor & heat exchanger were needed. He also reported that the blood was in the insulation & you would never be able to remove it. So in effect, any items put into the freezer after parts were replaces, would absorb the odor. We asked for the freezer to be replaced. Due to the fact it was only 17 months old.

"NO WAY" was GE/Zurich's response. They will repair, but blood in the insulation is not covered ( it is an incidental damage.) Now, tell me what good is a freezer that will effect the taste & smell of the items you put into it? They will consider up to $250 reimbursement for food loss. I understand not covering the carpet, other items damaged or even the total cost of lost food, but I can't understand why they would repair the parts in a freezer that will never be worth putting food inside.
