When I as a newly separated parent went to change my car insurance to my own account, I called the service number on my existing account. When I asked to have the identical, full and complete auto coverage transferred to my own account, I was told that that would occur. Never having had car insurance of my own before, when the written policy arrived, I filed it away.

That winter, I had the misfortune of having an accident which involved body damage to the vehicle. When I called Geico to report it, I was told that I did not have collision insurance. Yet, I did have collision insurance under my husband's acc't but when I transferred to my own acc't, though I requested the identical policy, as it was all transacted over the telephone, I had no proof that I had requested collision 'because I did not specifically say that word, it wasn't included'.

What a crock. So, needless to say, Geico is first on my DO NOT USE list of companies to tell everyone about. Go with a company with a specific agent assigned to you! Never trust GEICO because it's your word against theirs, (even though the written policies said the same thing!)

You filed it away without looking at it? How about when you were paying you bill. Collision is typically an expensive coverage. You wouldn't question why your insurance is so cheap?

You say your list of do not use companies is still growing. Did you ever think you might be the problem.

It's hard to believe that one person has so many companies ripping them off. Wouldn't it be great if the companies could use word of mouth to spread your name to the rest and say don't let her become a client she'll try and rip you off.

Get a clue please ignorance is not an excuse, the company sent you the policy you didn't look at it. It would have been one thing if you were PAYING for the coverage.

Here I was, distraught over everything that has gone on with a household to still run, with kids and dogs and all the needs of each....When I called and requested the exact coverage that I had had with "him", I didn't get it.

The biggest problem with this entire company is there is NO ONE PERSON THAT YOU SPEAK WITH THAT CAN BE PERSONNALLY HELD RESPONSIBLE.

The voice on the phone can rely on total annonimity without a face to put to the voice.

The customer has no one person who they can establish a personnal relationship with, face to face. Needless to say, I am with a company with whom I am very happy. When I've had a problem, I have had immediate response and am thrilled with their total overall response and coverage to meet my needs.

The bottom line? If you can't see your representative personnally, DON'T USE THEM !! GEICO SUCKS AND I WILL CONTINUE TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW AND MEET, FRIENDS, FAMILY, STRANGERS ALIKE.

AND MY LIST OF "DON'T USE COMPANIES" CONTINUES TO GROW. Word of mouth is still very strong and I have already had multiple people tell me they've changed companies and have continued to spread the word.

Responsibility, can't blame everything on the business

Fri, November 12, 2004

When a company sends out paperwork stating your coverages on your insurance policy we are sending you something like a reciept. If you choose to keep this or file it un-opened, you are taking a risk. A risk that something may have been misunderstood over the phone or that someone was human and made an error. But nevertheless we send you this paperwork to verify that YOUR policy is correct. If something is not easily understood then we are here 24 hours a day to answer your questions. If everything happened as you say, then yes there was an error somewhere. But, you do have to accept some responsiblilty as a consumer. WE (consumers) can't blame everything on the business. I was a consumer a long time before I was an insurance agent and I take responsibility when I purchase the wrong size or I don't notice a crack before I leave the store. I am assuming that you are not a policyholder with GEICO anymore and I am sorry that you are not able to take advantage of a great company. I hope that you are happy and perfectly content with your current insurance company. For your sake I hope you have learned to read the paperwork that is sent to you. It is not unsolicited junk mail.
