Complaint Review: Gene Hannon

I have somewhat of a concern about a Breeder I have dealt with and I know that she does shows on a regular basis.

First I want to tell you a little about myself, I am just a true animal lover, I have three cats and three shih tzus, all who have been rescued from bad homes or just unwanted, I have had many people tell me that when they die they want to come back as one of my pets, now onto the reason for this letter.

I live in Michigan and there is a breeder in Wayne, Michigan that breeds several breeds of cats, one of them breeds being Maincoon. well about 5 years ago I was introduced to Gene through a mutual friend as I had just lost my 24 year old Van Calico, this was my first knowledge of Maincoons, the friend told me Gene had a couple older Maincoons that she thought would be show cats but their face never boxed out like they should so she was selling them for a cheaper price, that price being $100.00.

I went and looked at the cats and chose one and named her Sunshine as she had a bright orange spot on the tip of her head, I much did not care about the boxed face or this or that I am not into that, I am into providing love and care for my animals.

well Sunshine was just wonderful,though we worried about her from the beginning as her breathing was not normal so I asked the friend and she said "she will probably grow out of it" well needless to say she did not and we lost Sunshine at the age of 2 1/2.

My sister who lives up north was down at the same time that I aquired Sunshine and she came over and fell in lovewith her and decided to go and pick up the other little girl and she named her Sammy, it was the same deal whereGene had kept her for what she told us was show purposes, but she never developed, I can show you pictures of her, she had the beautiful boxed face and grew to be a hefty 19 lbs, my sister was sad when Sunshine passed, but in her own right she was happy her sister (Sammy) was healthy.

out at this time, Sammy was exceptionally close to my brother in law, and everything was great until a week ago,they noticed that Sam had stopped eating so they rushed her to the vets and found out the worse, that her liverwas shutting down--at the age of 4 1/2, they hospitalized her for a week to try to get her back but finally hadto make the awful decision to send her on the rainbow bridge.

I now am worried again as after I lost Sunshine, I gave it awhile and talked to my friend and she assured me
that Gene was not doing anything wrong and who knows she still may not be, so I again went and saw a cat that she wanted to get rid of for $100.00, she also is beautiful but the constant worry of her getting ill
is always there, especially now, my Bailee eats well but never gains weight, and her breathing is not as stressed
as Sunshines was but it is somewhat.

Sammys was never like that, Sammys disease happened fast, well then again so did Sunshines death, my husband took her in for a check up and the stress of being at the vet and being x-rayed she died that day on the table in front of my mother and husband, and I never got to say good bye, and got the call at work, how devastating that was, Sunshine weight never went over 10 lbs. that is where Bailee is now at the age of 2.

I have no proof but just wanted to write to tell you just in case there have been others that have dealt with Gene and have had this problem, as I said she does all the cat shows in this area.

I am enclosing the information I have about her and as I said I am not sure if she is inner breeding but it certainly is strange that we have had these
cats that have died from the same breeder, the information I have is: Gene Hannon---734-641-1948 Wayne, Michigan.
