My son purchased a car from Gene Messer Ford in Lubbock, Texas on December of 2001. It was a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2. It was financed through Ford Motor Credit. We traded in a 1984 Ford Tauras.

In January of 2001, we were notified that the loan was rejected by Ford Motor Credit and that we would have to return the car to the dealership or refinance. We decided to back out of the deal and asked for our old car back. We were told by the dealer that the old car had already been sold. We were forced to pay 18 percent interest on the new car. We had the extended warranty on the car. The dealer told us and has on record that the warranty was up to 85,597 miles. The car has been in the shop 7 times in the last year for a lot of problems including a new transmission, rear seal, engine problems and other things.

At 61,000 miles, the head gasket went out and apon taking it to the dealer we were told that the warranty went out at 60,000 miles. Therefore, my son owes 12,000 dollars on a car that he can't drive, that the dealer forced him to buy in the first place.
