I had initiated contact with Generac about purchasing a home generator and once had made that contact I started receiving numerous promotional advertising that would give you something such as extended warranty or a small inverter generator if you made a purchase of a "Automatic Standby Generator".

I had full intention of buying a home generator and had the local dealer size it for me and its one of their larger home models that I ended up purchasing.  I timed the purchase to match one of their promotions such that I would receive a free invertor generator.  To be totally honest, the mistake was mine for not putting on my glasses and reading the fine print and it is very fine as compared to the rest of the fonts and colors of the advertisement.  When I applied for the generator after a +$20,000 cash purchase, I got a canned response that my purchase did not qualify because it was no one of the models listed in the fine print.  That is true, I did not purchase one of the models in the fine print so truly my problem.

That said, I knew I was buying a high end model and the thought that this model would not qualify never entered my mind.  As it turns out they are giving this inverter generator to purchases who are buying home generators that cost less than 25% of what I paid for my home generator.

I am filing this report to protect others whom don't typically read the fine print.  Generac does not owe me a generator but they are deceptively offering promotions based on very specific products and limited dates.  They are not deceptive about the dates as they are in the bigger fonts with large headings such as "ACT TODAY" and "LIMITED TIME OFFER" so my point is that time limit is a positive marketing ploy whereas limiting the models that are valid with the promotion is a negative marketing ploy and hence they reduced it to the fine print.

I certainly hope the Generac's warranty and service integrity is much better than their low marketing integrity...
