I purchased the refrigerator at Best Buy and within one month or so the ice maker stopped working. I called the warranty company who came out but instead of replacing the ice maker motor THE REPAIR MAN PULLED OUT A HAIR DRYER, DEFROSTED THE MOTOR FROM THE SHELL OF ICE, WRAPPED IT IN RUBBER AND TOLD ME THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS GOING TO BE DONE. I told him that was unacceptable but he said THAT WAS ALL GE REQUIRED THEM TO DO!

Within one year the refrigerator broke down again. No longer under warrenty I hired an appliance repair man came out and fixed it for hundreds of dollars. Now it is not working again. It has also caused my energy bills to shoot up. This from a GE fridge that was supposed to be top of the line energy efficient. I mentioned this to my friends and one said she has the same refrigerator and THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER.

These refrigerators are defective. Was there a recall I was not aware of? Why wasnt the warranty company kept apprised of this? Why were they instructed to carry hair dryers to defrost and wrap the motor instead of replace it with a non defective one? All these years, I have suffered higher electricity bills, because of this defective piece of junk, shame on you.

Now after reading the other complaints on GE I come to find out they have been sued for this before. Shame, shame, shame on you, GE. Shame, shame, shame on you.
