My 2003 chevy silverado has only 17000 miles on it when it developed a clunk when it upshifts from 2nd to 3rd or down shifts from 3rd to 2nd. I've had it in 3 times for the problem. First they reloaded the transmission shift program which they said fixed the problem, wrong. Second they replaced the valve body in the tranmission which they said deffinetly fixed the problem, wrong!!! Third they said they now found a bulletin stating the problem is that there was an extra step machined into the 3rd gear clutch plate which made the clunk so they replaced the plate took it for a test drive and told me when I picked up that the problem was solved, no more noise end of story, WRONG!!!!

I've tried to talk to a G.M rep but I just keep getting the run around and the dealer is trying to tell me that the clunk is a characteristic of the vehicle, WRONG!!!

After reading your report and others regarding GM vehicles, especially trucks, it seems that there is definitely poor design and/or workmanship with 2000-2003 GM engines and transmissions. So sad when foreign competition is now so great.
