I wanted a barn to store animal feed and animals in so I ordered General steel's 30' by 44' steel building.

Things first started to go bad when I ordered the building and sent in my $3,000 deposet I was then informed things like an opening for a door cost extra. I mean really, who would want a building that has no way of getting inside the building? I assumed that at least one door opening would come as part of the building. I would expect that if I wanted multiple doors and windows I would have to pay extra, but having to pay extra just for one door to have access to the building!

The next thing that happened was that they changed that I could take up to 6 months to pay for the building before shipping. About two months after sending my deposit I was getting letters saying that if I did not pay for the building and have it shipped I would have to pay even more for the building.

I was told by the salesman that two people can erect the building over a weekend. The part that he left out was yes two people could if they had access to commercial construction equipment like a crane, scafualing, and other commercial construction equipment and spent the entire 48 hours of the weekend erecting it. He also left out the part that you also needed a masters degree in engineering to know how a building is put together since no directions where given that a layman could understand.

When the building arrived I found out from the truck driver that the building that I was being delivered came from a local manufacture and not from General Steel which General Steel advertise that they manufacture their own buildings and there are no middle men involved when in fact General Steel is in fact a middle man them self's and not a building manufacture.

If I knew what all would have happened I would have backed out of the deal if I could have gotten my deposit back. After having the building delivered a year ago its still sitting in parts in my driveway because I cant afford to hire a construction company to erect it.

General steel sales buildings to the general public as if they are professional construction companies and not just Joe Public.
