BEWARE

My son and his girlfriend were in need of having a pre-natal paternity test. We searched the internet until we found what seemed to be a safe and what was presented to be a new non-invasive procedure to determine paternity.

She and her mother proceeded to order the kit and followed directions to the tee. They went to an assigned local lab set up by GENETEST. Blood was drawn fom the mother,a swab sample was taken from the proposed father and mailed to GENETEST in Canada as instructed. The cost for this procedure was over $1000 total but was deemed worthwhile as it would be safe to both mother and unborn child.

After many calls to get results and being put off several days and then weeks, we were told the blood would have to be drawn again as their findings were inconclusive.

Again, blood was drawn and mailed to GENETEST in Canada per their instructions. Again, we waited the expected 10-14 business day waiting period and then began to call for results. Again, we were put off days. Wednesday to Friday. Friday to Saturday. Saturday to Monday. Always after 1pm or 6pm.

This time after much persistance, we were told that they still could not complete the test with satisfactory results. They advised they would not be able to run it again because of expense to them. Ha!! However, they would be glad to run another pre-natal test after the birth.

This is unsatisfactory. Obviously GENETEST cannot perform this test and are committing fraud by not being able to deliver what they advertise and yet charge prospective clients an enormous amount of money.

We have researched since this happen and have found that GENETEST has "unsatisfactory listings" with both the "Better Business Bureau" in both Buffalo, New York and Canada. Upon further research, we found this website and have articles that mostly duplicate what we have been through.

The anguish of waiting for nothing has been tremendous on all involved but mostly on the mother and the unborn child. I am sure most people do not persue this situation as they do not have the money for an attorney. Therfore they go with life and let it go due to the fact attorney's fees would more then likely outway the original cost of the test itself.

We have contacted an attorney and hope to be able to update you in the future with some postive results. I am now worried and scared about blood/DNA being in stangers hands.

I am sorry..if you are reading this after the fact.

If the reports are confidential, doctors will state flat out that they cannot release any information to outside parties due to privacy laws. When I had a blood test performed, my boyfriend paid for the test and attempted to get the results for me as I was unavailable to at the time. He was specifically told that he could not recieve the results as a result of patient confidentially.

This leads me to my next point. Why wouldn't you just TELL HER that she could not recieve the results?? Why give her the round around and make up false stories?

WHO'S THE LIAR!?

Basir:

You did talk to me and I have phone records that prove you called me at my home . You did tell me that my son was not the father. However, you are correct in saying that you told me the requesters of the test you performed askd you to lie. They did not, but you did.

We have since had another DNA test done by a National DNA Testing Lab and my son has been proven to be the father in all certainy.

Just a follow-up for your records.

Have a great day as we enjoy our daughter and granddaughter every single day.

Hello,
Genetest has strict policy of not providing results or personal information of the parties tested to unauthorized individuals regardless of their relationship to the individuals.

The person who requested the test and paid for has specifically requested not to provide any information to Barbara.

The test was completed and the results were provided to the authorized individuals in July through verbal, electronically and by mail.
The non invasive test has limitations due to very small amount of fetal DNA. All parties are thoroughly informed of the limitations and restrictions. In cases where we are unable to complete this test we would recollect and redo the test without any cost to the client.
In rare cases a second try is unsuccessful, in such cases we refund one half of the amount paid and still complete the test after the child is born without any additional cost.

Barbara should refrain from providing wrong and deceiving information to the public.
