We attended a seminar, with the promise of a trip. The trip turned out to be accomodation only, we had to get ourselves there! Upon arrival we were assigned a salesperson who glued herself to our sides for 2 hours (all the couples seemed to have someone assigned to them). The sales pitch lasted about an hour, then we were herded to a room with tables, calculators etc were we spent the next hour subjected to a strong armed sales pitch. We were beratted if we questioned anything, told we were crazy not to think this was the best deal of the century and assured that this was an investment that could be easily resold through Century 21 at an inflated rate, all of this later proved to be false.
We were also never told that there would be a yearly maintenance fee, otherwise why would we have paid a fortune for holidays that $40,000 would have given us at more than 1st class accomodations. Imagine our surprise when that bill arrived.

A promise was also made that we could 'bank' our points and cash them in on the 'ultimate' vacation, also not true, they expire.

We were deceived, manipulated and now after paying over $40,000 we face 50 years of $2000 (and climbing) fees for vacations we do not take.
To add insult to injury, they then sold our name to other unscrupulous people praying on us to allow them to sell our timeshare. They are also frauds and when I called Geo to ask for help with them, I was told (by the VP by the way) that I was 'becoming tiresome' and hung up on. When I called back after 5 seconds and a doubling of my bloodpressure, I was informed that if I called back again I would be sued ! Sued for what?????

How angry am I? if anyone out there wants to initiate a class action suit against this bunch of bullies and thieves, I'm in......just let me know

Good evening,

It's been two years since I attended the first presentation by Geo/GH Marketing representatives.  My membership of $25,000 was paid in full only this year as I had to take the 50/50 option to avoid all the interest that they charge. A month after I was called in again to be advised of a "new accelerated program" they are now offering but as per their usual scripted speech, it was for that day only and set to expire once I walked out of the door.  I had many calls into Member Services and even had the pleasure of speaking with a rather hostile lady by the name of Betty Eisenstadt. Upon further research I learned that she was the President. From reading complaints and other member's concerns online, it appears as though there exists a new provision that is related to a penalty imposed for early cancellation. I say early because you mentioned that you face 50 years of mounting fees. In a another post listed, they mentioned that it is $1,000. I called Geo and confirmed this amount.  I am going to be telling others of this as this is not included anywhere in the purchase agreement or guidelines and they have never sent anything providing notice of this change in the terms of the contract. Although in Schedule E it makes mention that changes will be changed from time to time, no where does it state that Geo is not obligated to advise members accordingly.  Sadly, without the route of litigation, this may be your only means of getting out-$1,000 penalty now versus 50 years of membership fees and other hidden costs which in actuality would amount to far more than the penalty.  I would also suggest that you file a formal complaint with the Consumer Protection Branch.  With more and more calls from dissatisfied members, the more Geo will be monitored.  The number for the Consumer Complaint line is 416-326-8800.

I would also recommend sending Geo's Head Office a letter requesting termination and copying the Consumer Protection Branch once they have provided you with a file number.  It is not much, but it is a start.  I hope that helps.
