George G. Richey Builder, contractor hired to add kitchen demolished supporting walls, propped up existing roof and despite reassurances the work will be done has left the project as is for 1 1/2 years. Denver Colorado
I hired George G. Richey to remodel the inside of my home including removing an inside wall, remodeling a bathroom, refinishing floors, installing new closets, and adding onto my existing kitchen by removing an existing wall and enclosing a roofed porch. The payment plan was for a deposit for supplies and regular payments as the work was proceeding. The interior work went as scheduled with the third payment to go toward the kitchen work. That was 1 1/2 yeas ago. The closets and floors were not finished (completed) and I had to hire another carpenter and floor company to complete these parts of the project. The demolition of the supports for the roofed porch was done by George Richey with temporary supports put in place. Over this time he has only managed to pour part of the new foundation for the kitchen despite many reassurances that he will come to finish the work and admission that he is doing other work to earn money to pay for this project. I have tried everything short of suing him (he has no discernable assets and I can't afford to hire an attorney to sue him just to make his life miserable)--I've been nice, plead, threatened, and even called his father in another state, but to no avail. I have finally had to hire another builder to at least finish pouring the foundation and building supports for the roof as I can't afford for the existing roof to fall down. The amount of money he has on deposit and for the parts of the work he didn't complete adds up to $30,000. There is no reposit in my accounts to make this up. Do not hire George G. Richey for any project. He is nice and pleasant and eanest sounding but he does not finish his projects and takes your money.
