On 8/10/2012 at around noon time, my 18 wheeler truck broke down at the intersection of U.S. highway 130 and Dey Road in Cranbury, New Jersey. I immediately called for a tow. Estimated time of arrival was 45 min to an hour (that is 12:45-1pm). I put my triangles out behind my vehicle and traffic was flowing smoothly on both sides of my vehicle. About 20 minutes later, a Streets Department worker pulled up. I thought to offer some assistance but I was wrong. Instead he asked how long I was going to be there and said I needed to move because I was blocking traffic. I responded that a tow truck was in route and that the estimated time arrival at that time was 20 to 30 minutes.

He then told me that was too long and called the local police department. When the police pulled up five minutes later, they asked the same question as the street department worker, How long?. I responded 20 to 30 minutes. The police officer said That is too long and youre blocking traffic. I tried to explain that traffic was flowing fine on both sides and there was no back up but he didnt want to hear it. He immediately called the local tow company who is contracted by the township and had my truck and trailer pulled to their garage which is 3 blocks south of Dey Road and Route 130. This is where my nightmare begins. First, I did not ask to be towed to George's Garage and Towing, and second, they could have just as easily pulled my vehicle about 100 yards to where there was a wide open safe haven, out of the way of everything. At this point I am not very happy about them pulling my vehicle, and I am letting the tow worker know about it.

Two men pull up in another George's Garage tow truck and stormed towards me as if to do bodily harm. One of the workers, named TONY, says to me "WE CAN DO THIS THE HARD WAY OR WE CAN DO THIS THE EASY WAY". Now I'm really thinking these guys are going to hurt me if I dont do what they say. So now I'm feeling strong armed and when I get to the office, the woman at the window hands me the bill. ($689.00)

I was floored. How can you justify charging me $689.00 for a 3 block tow? I asked. She responded, $475.00 for tow, $25 admin fee, 25 yard fee and $150.00 storage fee plus some other fee. I WAS ROBBED. My first thought was I have to call the police, but I cant do that, theyre in on this whole thing.

WHAT A SCAM.
