Georgetown Woodworks Subcontractors Beware lack of pay, poor quality cabinets and unethical practices Georgetown, Texas

When we first began working for this company we were told that they had gone through numerous installers before us. We found this questionable.
After speaking with the gentleman that represented Georgetown Woodworks we were told that he wanted to build a working relationship with his installers and that if we were happy and making good money that it benefited not only us but his company.

We believed this gentleman to be both honest and sincere. He was but the company he worked for is suspect.  He is no longer employed there for reasons unknown.

Our contracts stated that we would be paid 50% on completion of install and that the last 40 and 10% would be paid when the company received their funds. We did receive the first 50% on our contracts but on the majority of them have been unable to collect the last 40 and 10%.

When we attempted to receive our final payments we have received threats of frivolous lawsuits and fictitious back charges.

We have been installing in this area for over 30 years and we have never encountered anything like this before. In all the years that we have been installing cabinets and trim we have only encountered two back charges. In the last week we have received e-mail after e-mail telling us what they were going to charge us for and how they were going to keep from paying us what they owe.

Our problems truly began with two large contracts that we bid verbally so we began the jobs and when the contracts came in they low-balled us and just put what they wanted for a price on them that was actually $3000 below what they had verbally agreed on.  By the time we finished the contracts we would have paid extra for employees to do their job. They corrected the problem on the first job but we actually had to walk off the second one as we could not afford the extra $2000 it would've cost us to pay our employees to complete their work.

We went the extra mile for this company. We took field measurements for them as no one showed up on the job to do this. We have had to rebuild cabinets that were built with incorrect measurements so that we could finish our jobs in a timely fashion.  We have had to do a lot of add-on supports due to poor design by the company.  Anytime we were asked to do something extra we did this without any extra compensation.

This is just a cautionary warning to anyone that is considering working for or doing business with this company. We would not like to see anyone else have to deal with this type of situation. We have found them to be unethical and vindictive.
Neither quality promotes a good working relationship.
