Unbeknownst to me until a day ago, I've been charged $14.99/month on my credit card and not on my Gexa bill for "surge protection insurance" for 6 months. What is surge protection insurance? Don't I have surge protectors already? Aren't they like $10 a pop?

When I Google "is surge protection insurance a scam" turns out every result says, that yes, it absolutely is. Especially when you get enrolled in it agianst your will and without your knowledge. This is insurance designed to protect large appliances from surges. Well, if you have a breaker, then you really don't need this at all. It's a money grab pure and simple. Just an idiot tax or "theft" as some would describe it.

The fact that Gexa would even offer this as part of their plans is a testament to their integrity as a company. I signed up with Gexa because they claim to have a 100% renewable option. Now I'm doubting that. How do I know they are actually brokering renewable energy if they are willing  to sell the electric provider equivalent of snake oil? How tragically disappointing. I wouldn't be surprised to find out they were stealing $14.99/month from a large portion of their customers, without their customers knowing. How shameful. I'd like to see the numbers on how many active policies are out there and how often anyone actually files a claim. I bet the ratio is nearing .01%.

These grifters are in league with the likes of Donald Trump. Burn in hell. I want my $90 back.

Renewable energy?

You do realize that buying "renewable" grid electricity is basically just a scam? The grid power mix is whatever it is, it's not like someone is going to take a plant offline or build a bunch of extra capacity that never gets used. All that happens when you buy greener electricity is that you pay more, and someone else gets the dirty stuff for less. It's like trying to stick it to the oil companies by not buying gas on Wednesdays. So yeah, it doesn't surprise me that a company pushing this scam also pushes other scams. And you should be checking your credit card statement once a month, not once a year.

You come here and admit to the world, you do not watch your bank or credit card accounts to see what you are being charged for! Where do you people come from? I'll bet you don't even have the financial common sense to keep written checking account records, you don't balance your account monthly and of course you don't have the common sense to see what is being put on any credit cards. If you would have been doing these things, you would have caught this the FIRST MONTH instead of six and then blaming them because YOU don't have FINANCIAL COMMON SENSE! Absolutely amazing and hilarious! Thanks for the laughs and why not write more like "you must work for them"!
