Complaint Review: Giant Vanlines Giant Moving And Storage

WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE!! I wonder if Alice Cooper was ever in the moving business,because Giant Vanlines stole his motto like they stole my money!!!!

I was referred to these bullies via the internet,and thats exactly what they are, bullies. Not muscle wise,but sneaky wise. Listen up ya'll.

Two Hebrew men show up at my door 10:00 am and briefly go over a pretty vague contract. Rush rush rush sign sign sign, trying to take all this in and mind full of moving a few signatures later they start packing.

I mentioned their origin not in a racial context but in comprehension context. Only when speaking to us did they use english at all. So, we were a little suspicious from the start.

We were quoted a moderately low price of $ 1,575.00 to move our stuff cross country, and this was supposedely for, coming to our house, packing "some" of our stuff, mainly disassembling a few items and and getting them on the truck for a fun filled voyage.

After about seven hours or so of packing, I don't know I think clocks were on strike that day,they completed the packing and loading task. Now lets sit down and figure out the numbers and pay half for departure as was agreed.

The new estimate jumped from $1,575 to roughly $2,600.00 When asking why the Vesuviusesque increase they began to tell me that all the boxes, tape, corrugated wrapping and shrink wrap totalled a whopping $1,050 for two beds that didn't get wrapped and was charged for, three tv's, dining room set, a couple of boxes, couch, endtables, and a coffee table.

After reassembling my jaw that came unhooked I began to question the percentage of profit on WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE!! I wonder if Alice Cooper was ever in the moving business,because Giant Vanlines stole his motto like they stole my money!!!!

Upon calling one of the managers and throwing tantrums they deducted $600.00 worth of profit. Feeling that the original estimate was low I was ok with the roughly $2000.00 price total.

Half was paid up front with check and the other half was to be received upon delivery. Two weeks later our things show up in Tucson Az. with a demand for an additional $1000.00 for a supposed weight increase and the only way to get my belongings was to pay cash for this.

Upon calling the manager again we did not get the manager but instead an impersonable, rude moron who told us pay cash or lose your belongings. Did I mention that the second set of fellows (delivery guys)were russian and communicated in their language as the first set of men, not that their is anything wrong with foreign language but again just another tool to be deceitful.

So the police show up and tell me to just pay them in order to retrieve my belongings off the truck and then to sue them. Aaaahhh the sweet smell of extortion.

Coughing up another two grand in cash they begin to unload our damaged goods, antique italian chess set, stereo, dining room chairs and boxed items and several more.

We were promised unloading and reassembling of our belongings as to be a part of the price they did nothing but unload and leave us with our newly, trashed belongings. Needless to say, we were beside ourselves with anger and contempt for these people.

This exciting move turned into a horrible nightmare that is not over by a long shot. I came to find out that we were one of many non-vaseline recipients from this company and others like it.

They need to be shut down and only we the consumers can do it...... STAY AWAY FROM GIANT VAN LINES!!
