I recently bought a Ford F150 Pickup tuck from Gibson Truck World I was fully aware that the truck had hight milage on it,  and after a few days i noticed the motor was making a ticking noise.  So i called up Dudley the service magager @ Gibson and informed him of the ticking noise i was hearing, and that i would like to schedule an appointment to have it checked out.  He called me a couple of days later and told me that all the parts he needed to do the repair had been order and had arrived at his shop, and he wanted me to bring the tuck up the following Tuesday to be repaired.   The problem i have with this is, he had never seen the truck since the day i bought it, so how could he possibly know what parts to order for my tuck??  Is Mr. Dudley a psychic??  did i just give a great description of the ticking noise, i am far from a mechanic so i doubt that.  So the problem i have is how did he know what parts to order if he had not seen the tuck yet?  I belive that Gibson Truck Word already knew about this problem and just wanted to pass the buck on to the seller.

and on a second note inreguard to some of the complaints i read on this site, if the carfax is free why do you need to ask for it, shouldnt Gibson Truck World want to willing provid this information up front??  why should u need to ask for a for it?  sounds fishy to me. If i were a car dealer and i provided free carfax reports i would go ahead and post it on every one of my 250 trucks.

so, im not trying to totally bash Gibson because they did offer to honor the so called 50/50.  but im very pissed that they knew exacty what my tuck needed before ever taking a look at it.

Future buyers beware, in that stack of papers you will be signing when you purchace a truck, you acutally sign away your right to sue them WTF..  why would they do this if they stand behind there product?   Its a litte fishy to me..  Just Rember Talk it Cheap..

I'm not a mechanic Scott,I'm a parts changer, the reason I say that is I have never been paid as a mechanic, but I do all of my own work.Believe it or not there are still some good mechanics out there that you can tell your problem to and they will know exactly whats wrong, yes even over the phone.

I wish all nothing but the best and God Bless.

Scott, We think you are confusing psychic with expert.  We sell and service ONLY used trucks every day, so chances are, when your truck needs a standard repair we have seen that same issue before.   The 5.4L gas engine on a F150 makes a ticking noise when the cam phasers and chain go bad and the noise stops when you get the engine above 2000rpm.  This is exactly what you described to Dudley over the phone, so instead of making you come in and then having to order the parts, tell you to go home and wait for the parts to arrive and then ask you to come in again, Dudley chose to be pro-active to make sure the parts were available onsite so we could repair your truck the first time.  We are aware that you live over an hour away, and our goal was to NOT inconvenience your time and schedule any more than necessary.  Why would you consider us being proactive, using our knowledge of common engine issues and making sure we had the parts on hand before making you drive to the dealership a negative thing?   You had an appointment scheduled for Feb 13th, 2012 and you never showed up.  Dudley had originally informed you that you would be responsible for 50% of the repair costs; however, once the owner found out you had only had your truck for a very short period of time, he decided to do the repairs at no cost to you. Dudley repeatedly called you to reschedule your free cam phasers and chain repair and we even held the parts here for you for over 4 weeks, but you never showed up for the repair or returned our call.  What other dealer out there would offer to fix your truck for you for free after the sale?

As for your second complaint we are left extremely confused.  Have you been to our website?  Every single truck on our website gets a FREE Carfax report automatically through our inventory system.  It is all set up and automated, so we dont even have to do anything extra, it just pops up there right along with the description, photos and videos that we take of each and every truck on our lot.  You dont have to ask anyone at our dealership at all for the Carfax, you just click on the button on each truck that says FREE CARFAX REPORT available on both the Inventory listing page AS WELL AS the trucks individual details page.

Finally, we do stand behind our product with our free 12 month bumper to bumper warranty valid across the continental United States, 12 months free maintenance from our 23 bay service department with our exclusive 15 day return policy.  No other dealer out there offers this much service or backs up their inventory with a warranty like ours.  Over 60% of our business comes from repeat and referral customers and in fact, customers tell us that we come so highly recommended that they dont even look at other dealers, they just come straight to us!
